Abstract
PURPOSE:To produce a high strength reinforcing steel material of superior weldability by depositing a large amount of AlN in medium carbon steel of a carbon equivalent range of not impairing weldability to fine the texture and rapidly performing cooling from finishing of rolling up to taking-up. CONSTITUTION:The medium carbon steel which contains C; 0.29 to 0.38%, Si; 0.15 to 0.35%, Mn; 0.30 to 1.30%, N; 0.004 to 0.006%, Al; 0.03 to 0.06% and which is of such constitution wherein the value of (C+Mn/6) becomes 0.5% is heated to 1050 deg.C or higher. Next, this material is hot rolled to a wire material and the temperature range of 900 to 500 deg.C upon ending of the final pass is quenched at mean cooling rates of 8 to 13 deg.C/sec. A large amount of AlN precipitates and the fine texture whose ferrite crystal grain size is 10 or more in ASTM ferrite crystal grain size is provided. Finally, the material is cold drawn at 50 to 80% of reduction of area, whereby the high strength reinforcing steel material of superior weldability is produced.
