Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture the high tensile steel of tensile strength 100kg/mm2, showing an excellent delayed crackableness, by heat treating and tempering the steel containing a specified amount of C, Si, Mn, Ni, Cr, Mo, and Cu as the fundamental constituent, to form the martensitic structure.
CONSTITUTION: The alloy steel is constituted of 0.2W0.40% C, 0.20W1.50% Si, 0.50W2.00% Mn, 0.25W2.00% Ni, 0.50W2.00% Cr, 0.80W4.00% Mo, 0.15W 1.00% Cu, and the balance consisting of Fe and the inevitable impurities; this alloy is heated to above A3 transformation point, and then, is quenched for tempering treatment at a temperature under A1 transformation point; hereby, the high tensile steel excellent in the delayed crackableness is manufactured. By further containing 0.005W0.100% SolAl, and B ≤0.01%, in this alloy steel, the generation of the proeutectoid ferrite is restrained, the hardenability is increased, and the generation of the fine martensite is made easy. Moreover, by containing 0.01W0.20% V, 0.01W0.20% Nb, and 0.01W0.5% Ti, the effect on improvement of the strength can be obtained owing to the formation of fine grains or to the precipitation hardening.
