Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide novel microbial strain capable of oxidizing ethylene glycol and producing glycolic acid.
CONSTITUTION: Candida tropicalis 4415 (optimum culturing condition: pH5W7, 30°C. allowable culturing condition: pH2W9, ≤40°C). The strain is cultured in a medium containing 2W20 wt% of ethylene glycol, and the glycolic acid can be separated from the cultured medium.
