Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a methanol-assimilable specific novel yeast belonging to Hansenula genus.
CONSTITUTION: Hansenula xyloensis (FERM-P No.5679) which is methanol- assimilable yeast belonging to Hansenula genus and capable of proliferating at a relatively high temperature, is inoculated in a nutrient medium containing medium containing methanol as main carbon source, and cultured pref. at 4W5 pH and 34W42°C. The objective yeast cells can be separated from the cultured liquid.
