Abstract

CONSTITUTION: A microorganism which belongs to the genus Lactobacillus and has the ability to produce 12-ketochenodeoxycholic acid from dehydrocholic acid, e.g. Lactobacillus sp. DC-1115 (FERM-P No. 5203), is brought into contact with dehydrocholic acid or cultivated in a culture medium containing the dehydrocholic acid. Alternatively, a microbial cell obtained by the cultivation of the microorganism is brought into contact with the dehydrocholic acid.
