Abstract
PURPOSE: To simplify facilities and process of disposal, returning sludge separated from treated waste water again into an aeration vessel and digesting the sludge by an aerobic microbe when the degree of contamination of the inlet waste water is low.
CONSTITUTION: An oxygen-containing gas such as air or oxygen itself is introduced into the aeration vessel 3 through nozzles provided at the front end of a feed pipe 1. The waste water is introduced into the aeration vessel 3 through a feed pipe 2. The organic substances in the waste water are treated with the aerobic microbe. Then, the waste water is conducted from the aeration vessel 3 into a settl- ing pond 4 so that the treated water is returned to the aeration vessel 3 through a passage (a) and a part of the sludge separated from the water is returned to the aeration vessel 3 through a passage (b). The other part of the sludge is transferred to an aerobic digestion vessel 5. The sludge to be selfdigested is returned from the vessel 5 to the vessel 3 through a passage (c). the degree of contamination of the inlet waste water is detected by a detector 6 and the quantity of the sludge to be returned to the aeration vessel 3 is calculated by a calculator 7 to operate a pump P.
