Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a synthetic resin composition having a high electrical conductivity, by incorporating an oxidized carbon black having a given specific surface area with a synthetic resin.
CONSTITUTION: Hydrocarbons are partially oxidized in the presence of oxygenm and steam in an amount corresponding to 30W40% of that required for complete combustion at 1200W1500°C under a pressure of 1W80 atm. the resulting raw material gas is fed into a water scrubber, scrubbed to separate the remaining carbon black in the gas, and dried to give a carbon black having a specific surface area ≥ 600 m2/g. The carbon black is then oxidized in the atmosphere of air or an inert gas with an oxygen content of 10W25 vol.% at 120W600°C in a rotary kiln. 3W70 wt.% of the carbon black to give a CO content calculated as oxygen in the volatile matter ≥1.0 mg up to 700°C is incorporated into a synthetic resin.
