Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a briquette having an increased calorific value and generating less CO during combustion, by adding a metal catalyst and/or a metal oxide catalyst to an elemental substance formed by solidifying a carbon-based powder.
CONSTITUTION: A metal catalyst e.g., platinum or rhodium, and/or a metal oxide catalyst, e.g., iron oxide or manganese dioxide, is added to a mixture of a coal of a low carbonization degree, e.g., peat or lignite, a coal of a high carbonization degree, e.g., bituminous coal or anthracite, and a carbon-based powder, e.g., charcoal, and then the mixed powder is press-molded to obtain a briquette.
