Abstract
PURPOSE: To make it possible to exhibit a desulfurizing effect using inexpensive matterials and to obtain an amount of sulfur dioxide gas evolution similar to that of kerosine, by forming a carbonaceous fuel containing Ca(OH)2, CaCO3 or dolomite and K2CO3.
CONSTITUTION: 100pts.wt. carbonaceous fuel is blended with 3W20pts.wt. desulfurizing agent comprising at least one compound selected from among Ca(OH)2, CaCO3 and dolomite and 1W20pts.wt. K2CO3 and, if necessary, a forming aid, or the like is further added to form them into briquets or oval briquets. As a carbonaceous fuel to be used, coal, coke, charcoal, graphite, activated carbon, etc. are mentioned. It is desirable that a weight ratio of the above-mentioned desulfurizing agent to K2CO3 is within the range of 0.2W10, and when the ratio is less than 0.2, the decomposition of K2SO4 at 1,000°C or higher lowers the effect. When the ratio is larger than 10, the amount of K2CO3 is insufficient to correspond to the reactivity of the desulfurizing agent so that satisfactory results cannot be obtained.
