CONSTITUTION: High voltage dielectric electrode tube 3 lined with electrically conductive film 4 is concentrically put into grounded metal tube 1 with discharge space G in-between. Electric field relaxing films 12 made of silicon carbide are formed along the inside of one sealed end part 8 of tube 3 to prevent generation of abnormal discharge in hemispherical part 8. At the same time, damage of tube 3 is avoided owing to concn. of spark discharge to pinholes, air bubbles, etc. in the dielectric. concn. of electric field strength to the ends of films 12 is also relaxed, and sufficient effective discharge area can be ensured.
