Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:An α-Acylaminopenicillin of formula I: [X is H or OH; A is formula II or III (Y is lower alkyl, lower alkylthio, phenyl group, etc.; R1 and R2 are H or lower alkyl groups, at least one of them is lower alkyl group; Z is O or S) and its salt.
EXAMPLE: D-α-(5-Hydroxy-3-methyl-1,2,4-triazine-6-carboxamido) benzylpenicillin.
USE: Antibacterials active against Gram-positive, Gram-negative bacteria, particularly bacillus pyocyaneus.
PROCESS: An α-aminopenicillin of formula IV or its salt is acylated with a carboxylic acid of formula × or its reactive derivative in a solvent, e.g. acetone or dioxane, under cooling or at room temperature to give the objective compound of formula I.
