PURPOSE:To accomplish accurate one-side plating at a low cost by applying soot on the non-plating surface of the work so that no plating liquid is attached to the soot- covered portion. CONSTITUTION:With adjustment of fuel and air from the respective feed pipes by flow regulating valves 6 and 7, the fuel from a blow-off port 8 is burned in an incomplete manner with a burner in a snout to generate snoot. Then, the soot 9 is applied withwise only on one side of a steel strip. The strip passes through a melt plating metal 11 is a plating bath 10 to allow the plating metal to adhere to the intended side A with the surface activated. In addition, it is squeezed by a plating roll 12 until the amount of plating metal is controlled to the required level thereby producing a one-side plated steel plate.
