Abstract

PURPOSE:To carry out one-side or both-side hot dipping of superior uniformity by uniformly attaching an arbitrarily prescribed amt. of molten metal to the surface of a coating roll and by contacting the roll to a steel strip to be hot dipped. CONSTITUTION:Steel strip 1 enters housing 15 through snout 14, sealing rolls 18 and bellows 2, and the progress direction of strip 1 is regulated to an oblique one with deflector rolls 3,4. A predetermined amt. of a zinc film is uniformly attached to one side of strip 1 with coating roll 5, and strip 1 leaves the apparatus through outlet side opening part 16. Molten zinc picking-up roll 6 is being dipped in molten zinc bath 7 at the lower part, and it picks up molten zinc by rotation and uniformly supplies a predetermined amt. of molten zinc to the surface of roll 5. In case this zinc packing-up supply method is not employed, molten zinc is supplied to container 8 with a zinc pump or the like and fed to the contact part between metalling roll 9 and coating roll 5.
