Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent possible cracks in the subsequent heating and rolling through slow heating up to the impact transition temperature in relation to the thickness of steel pieces in hot rolling of blooms and billets. CONSTITUTION:Anticorrosive ferrite system stanless blooms and billets mainly composed of 27-35% Cr, 0.5-5% Mo and Fe for the rest is heated slowly up to the impact transition temperature, at a rate of more than 0.02 min./ deg.C per 10mm in the thickness. This is performed by an indirect heating or with a low temperature furnace. Then, the temperature is raised up to the given level for hot rolling. This slow heating up to the impact transition temperature can prevent the development of cracks during the hot rolling regardless of the rate of subsequent rising temperature.
