Abstract
In order to produce a dial which is arranged within an enclosed instrument, the dial is inscribed by local burning or evaporation of a layer of surface coating applied to the dial with the aid of a laser beam passing through a transparent part of the instrument. This is simple to execute and simultaneously offers the guarantee that the close tolerances relating to the layer thickness of the surface coating application for the inscription procedure can reliably be maintained, the dials being dry-punched from an anodised aluminium sheet and the layer of surface coating for the subsequent inscription being applied to the anodised layer of the aluminium sheet with the aid of a printing process, especially the Tampoprint process, in the form of a colour bar.
