Abstract

1413832 Electro-photography RICOH K K 18 Dec 1972 [20 Dec 1971] 58258/72 Heading G2H [Also in Division B6] An identification card is produced by making an electro-photographic picture of a person, adding data to the developed picture and applying a transparent protective layer. Preferably the picture is made by exposing a photo-conductive member, which may be the card or a member which transfers a latent charge image to the card, through a halftone grid or screen. Alternatively a photo-sensitive screen may be imaged, and used to control a flow of corona ions which images the card. Then data are added and a synthetic resinous film is laminated to the card, or a lacquer is applied. The card may comprise a paper or resinous support, an aluminium layer and a surface layer of a dielectric such as an acrylic resin, a methacrylic resin, polyvinyl chloride or a photo-conductive material such as zinc oxide or poly-N-vinyl carbazole carried by a bonding agent. Electrically conductive rubber or sheet metal may replace the support and aluminium layer.
