Claims (1)
- 【特許請求の範囲】 1.ハウジング手段と、 前記ハウジング手段に含まれる情報記憶領域を含む磁気データ記憶媒体と、 前記情報記憶領域に磁気的に記録された情報ストリームと、 前記ハウジング手段に含まれる変換器ヘッド・アセンブリと、 前記変換器ヘッド・アセンブリに接続され、前記データ記憶媒体に対して前記 変換器ヘッド・アセンブリを相対的に移動させるアクチュエータ手段と、 前記アクチュエータ手段に接続され、前記変換器ヘッド・アセンブリを、前記 情報記憶領域に対し位置決定する制御手段とを含み、 前記変換器ヘッド・アセンブリが、磁気抵抗ヘッドと電磁ヘッドを含み、 前記磁気抵抗ヘッドと前記電磁ヘッドが、前記情報ストリームと同時に位置合 わせするために重ね合わされ、 さらに、前記変換器ヘッド・アセンブリに接続され、前記情報記憶領域から読 み取った信号を処理する前置増幅器を含み、 前記前置増幅器が、磁気抵抗ヘッドと前記電磁ヘッドの両方が読み取った信号 を同時に処理するための信号処理手段を含むことを特徴とするデータ記憶装置。 2.前記電磁ヘッドが、コイルとギャップを有する誘導ヘッドを含み、前記磁気 抵抗ヘッドが、前記ギャップ内に配置された磁気抵抗センサを有する請求項1に 記載のデータ記憶装置。 3.前記磁気抵抗センサが、前記ギャップの中心に配置されている請求項2に記 載のデータ記憶装置。 4.前記ギャップが、1対の磁極片によって画定され、前記磁極片がさらに、前 記磁気抵抗センサ用のシールドを含む請求項2または3に記載のデータ記憶装置 。 5.前記信号処理手段が、前記電磁ヘッドに接続された第1の増幅器手段と、前 記磁気抵抗ヘッドに接続された第2の増幅器手段と、前記第1と第2の増幅器手 段の利得を設定する利得制御手段とを含む請求項1ないし4のいずれか一項に記 載のデータ記憶装置。 6.前記磁気媒体が、回転可能な磁気ディスクを含み、前記情報記憶領域が、前 記ディスクの表面を含み、前記変換器ヘッド・アセンブリが、前記ディスク表面 上に前記磁気抵抗ヘッドと前記電磁ヘッドを支持する空気軸受ヘッド・スライダ を含む請求項1ないし5のいずれか一項に記載のデータ記憶装置。 7.前記ディスク表面の前記変換器ヘッド・アセンブリの半径方向の位置に応答 して、前記第1と第2の増幅器手段の少なくとも1つの利得を変化させる手段を さらに含む請求項6に記載のデータ記憶装置。 8.前記ディスク表面上の前記変換器ヘッド・アセンブリの半径方向の位置に応 答して、前記第1と第2の増幅器手段の相対的な利得を割り振る手段をさらに含 む請求項6または7に記載のデータ記憶装置。 9.前記データ記憶装置が、ヘッド・シフト回復手順中に前記第2の増幅器をデ ィスエーブルする手段を含む請求項5ないし8のいずれか一項に記載のデータ記 憶装置。 10.前記第1と第2の増幅器手段に接続された第3の増幅器手段をさらに含む 請求項5ないし9のいずれか一項に記載のデータ記憶装置。 11.前記第3の増幅器手段と前記利得制御手段の間に接続されたフィードバッ ク経路を含み、前記利得制御手段が、前記第1、第2および第3の増幅器手段の 合計利得を調整する手段を含む請求項10に記載のデータ記憶装置。 12.前記情報ストリームが、データ・セグメントとそれと交互に配置されたサ ーボ・セグメントを含み、前記利得制御手段が、前記データ・セグメントおよび サーボ・セグメントと前記ヘッド・アセンブリの位置合わせに応答して、前記利 得を第1および第2の動作モードにそれぞれ設定する手段を含む請求項5ないし 11のいずれか一項に記載のデータ記憶装置。 13.回転する磁気データ記憶ディスクの磁気表面のトラックからデータ情報と サーボ情報を読み取る装置であって、磁気抵抗ヘッドと重ね合わされた電磁ヘッ ドを含む一体型ヘッ ド・アセンブリと、前記磁気抵抗ヘッドと電磁ヘッドからの信号を同時に処理す る増幅器手段とを含む装置。 14.前記増幅器手段が、入力が前記磁気抵抗ヘッドに接続されかつ出力を有す る第1の段と、前記第1の段と並列で入力が前記電磁ヘッドに接続されかつ出力 を有する第2の段と、入力が第1と第2の段の前記出力に接続された第3の段と を含む請求項13に記載の装置。 15.前記第1の段と第2の段の利得をそれぞれ互いに調整する利得制御手段を さらに含む請求項14に記載の装置。 16.前記利得制御手段が、磁気ディスク表面に対する前記ヘッド・アセンブリ の半径方向位置に従って、前記第1と第2の段の総利得を前記第1と第2の段に 割り振る手段を含むことを特徴とする請求項15に記載の装置。 17.前記割振り手段が、磁気ディスク表面に対する前記ヘッド・アセンブリの 半径方向の位置の増大に応答して、前記第2の段の相対利得を高める請求項16 に記載の装置。 18.前記割振り手段が、サーボ情報とデータ情報にそれぞれ異なる割振りを行 うモード制御手段を含む請求項16または17に記載の装置。 19.前記利得制御手段が、ヘッド・シフト・データ回復手順に応答して、前記 第2の段の利得を0にするヘッド・シフト制御手段を含む請求項15ないし18 のいずれか一項に記載の装置。 20.記録された情報ストリームを含む記憶領域を有する磁 気媒体から読み取るための方法であって、 磁気抵抗ヘッドを記憶領域に対して位置決めする段階と、 電磁ヘッドを記憶領域と合った磁気抵抗ヘッドに重ね合わせる段階と、 磁気抵抗ヘッドと電磁ヘッドの両方で同時に情報ストリームを読み取る段階と 、 磁気抵抗ヘッドと電磁ヘッドの両方からの信号を組み合わせて出力信号を提供 する段階と を含む方法。 21.前記組み合わせる段階の前に、磁気抵抗ヘッドと電磁ヘッドの両方からの 信号を事前に増幅する段階をさらに含む請求項20に記載の方法。 22.前記事前増幅段階が、ディスク上の変換器ヘッド・アセンブリの半径方向 位置に応じて、磁気抵抗ヘッドと電磁ヘッドからの前記信号の相対的寄与率を調 整する段階をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項21に記載の方法。 23.前記事前増幅段階が、前記事前増幅段階の間の増幅利得を調整して、組み 合わせたデータ出力信号の直流レベルを調整する段階を含む請求項21または2 2に記載の方法。 24.前記事前増幅段階が、ヘッド・シフト・データ回復手順中に、電磁ヘッド からの信号をディスエーブルを含むことを特徴とする請求項21ないし23のい ずれか一項に記載の方法。 25.前記事前増幅段階が、読み取っている情報ストリーム がデータかそれともサーボであるかを検出し、その情報ストリームがデータかそ れともサーボであるかに応じて、磁気抵抗ヘッドと電磁ヘッドからの前記信号の 相対的な寄与率を調整する段階を含む請求項21ないし24のいずれか一項に記 載の方法。
