孔4に、熱可塑性樹脂からなる頭部付きピン1を、その
端部を前記熱可塑性樹脂材料2側の孔4に侵入させると
共に、頭部を前記他材料3の孔4入り口に係止させるよ
うに挿入し、この頭部付きピン1に外部エネルギーを与
えて少なくとも前記ピン1の端部と前記熱可塑性樹脂材
料2との間を融着させる。

【発明の詳細な説明】
【0001】
【産業上の利用分野】本発明は、少なくとも一方が熱可
塑性樹脂である複数材料間の接合方法に関する。
【0002】
【従来の技術】従来、プラスチック材料を他の材料と接
合する方法として、接着剤を使用する方法、溶剤や熱に
より溶融着する方法及び機械的固定方法が知られてい
る。これら方法の中で、接着剤を使用する方法は、被接
合材の素材の種類や接着条件により接着性が著しく相違
するため、接着剤の種類の選択や条件の設定が煩雑であ
り、接着強度が変動し易いという問題があった。また、
特に結晶性樹脂の場合は選択条件が一層限定され、強固
に接着させることが困難であった。
【0003】溶剤や熱による溶融着方法は簡便であるも
のの、接着剤以上に接合可能な被接合材の種類が限定さ
れ、異種材料間では基本的に不可能であった。これに対
しリベッテイグ等の機械的固定方法は、材料間の選択の
制約は小さいものの衝撃や振動により接合部分にガタが
生じるため、耐久性に劣るという欠点があった。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】本発明の目的は、熱可
塑性樹脂材料に他材料を接合する場合、その他材料の選
択性に制約を受けることなく強固な接合を可能にする接
合方法を提供することにある。

【課題を解決するための手段】このような本発明の目的
は、少なくとも一方が熱可塑性樹脂からなる材料と他材
料との接合方法において、前記熱可塑性樹脂材料と他材
料との間に、その他材料を貫通して前記熱可塑性樹脂材
料の内部に達する孔を設け、この孔に、熱可塑性樹脂か
らなる頭部付きピンを、その端部を前記熱可塑性樹脂材
料側の孔に侵入させると共に、頭部を前記他材料の孔入
り口に係止させるように挿入し、この頭部付きピンに外
部エネルギーを与えて少なくとも前記ピンの端部と前記
熱可塑性樹脂材料との間を融着させることにより達成す
ることができる。
【0006】このように熱可塑性樹脂から形成した頭部
付きピンを利用し、その頭部を他材料に係合させた状態
にして、ピンの端部を熱可塑性樹脂材料側に挿入し、外
部エネルギーを加えることによって、そのピンの端部と
熱可塑性樹脂材料との間を融着させるため、他材料側の
種類の如何に拘わらず強固に接合することができる。以
下図面を参照して本発明を具体的に説明する。
【0007】図1は、熱可塑性樹脂材料2と他材料3と
を接合する場合を示している。この熱可塑性樹脂材料2
と他材料3とを積層した状態で他材料3側から熱可塑性
樹脂材料2に達する孔4を開ける。この孔4に熱可塑性
樹脂製の頭部付きピン1を挿入し、その頭部1hを他材
料3側の孔入り口に係止させると共に、ピン本体1aを
熱可塑性樹脂材料2側の孔4に嵌合させる。次いで頭部
付きピン1に超音波、スピン等の外部エネルギーを加え
ることにより、ピン本体1aの端部と熱可塑性樹脂材料
2との間ともMで示す領域で融着させるのである。
【0008】本発明において、熱可塑性樹脂材料に使用
される熱可塑性樹脂としては、熱融着性を有するもので
あればよく特に限定されるものではない。たとえば、ア
クリロニトリル−ブタジエン−スチレン共重合体樹脂
(ABS樹脂)、ポリウレタン、ポリアリレート、ポリ
カーボネート、ナイロン、ポリエチレンやポリプロピレ
ン等のオレフィン系樹脂のような汎用の熱可塑性樹脂、
ポリフェニレンサルファイド(PPS)、ポリエーテル
イミド、ポリエーテルエーテルケトン(PEEK)等の
スーパーエンジニアリングプラスチック樹脂がある。
【0009】頭部付きピンの熱可塑性樹脂は、上記熱可
塑性樹脂材料と融着一体化する必要があることから、熱
可塑性樹脂材料と同じ程度の融点を有するのがよく、さ
らに好ましくは同一種類の熱可塑性樹脂から形成するの
がよい。また、頭部付きピンは、複数材料間の接合強度
を上げるために、ガラス繊維、炭素繊維、ボロン繊維、
アラミド繊維等の各種繊維やウィスカー等の無機充填剤
で補強した熱可塑性樹脂から作製することが望ましい。
これら繊維は短繊維であってもよいし、長繊維や連続繊
維であってもよい。さらに上記熱可塑性樹脂には着色剤
等を適宜配合することもできる。
【0010】本発明に使用する頭部付きピンの形状は、
その頂部に頭部を有するものであれば特に限定されるも
のではない。たとえば、図2〜図6に示すようなものを
例示することができる。図2はピン本体1aにネジを設
け、図3A,Bはピン本体1aの周囲に軸方向に沿って
多数のフィンを設けたものである。図4は長さ方向に螺
旋状にネジれているもの、図5はストレートの円柱形の
もの、図6は円錐形のものである。
【0011】本発明において、熱可塑性樹脂材料に接合
される他材料は特に限定されるものではない。たとえ
ば、金属、ガラス、セラミック、プラスチック等の任意
の素材を使用することができる。プラスチックには、通
常の熱可塑性プラスチックのほか、エポキシ樹脂や不飽
和ポリエステル樹脂等の熱硬化性樹脂、特にこれらをマ
トリックスとする繊維強化プラスチック(FRP)やシ
ートモールデイングコンパウンド(SMC)が含まれ
る。
【0012】本発明において、頭部付きピンに与える外
部エネルギー手段としては、超音波加熱、振動やスピン
等による摩擦熱などの方法がある。超音波加熱の場合は
エネルギーを集中させる必要があるため、図2に示すネ
ジ付きや図3のフィン付きのものを使用するのがよい。
また、スピン等の摩擦熱による場合は、頭部付きピンの
回転を容易にすると共に、熱可塑性樹脂材料との接着面
積をできるだけ大きくすることが望ましいため図4の螺
旋形、図5の円柱形及び図6の円錘形を使用するのがよ
い。
【0013】上述した本発明の接合方法は、自動車、船
舶、タンク等に取り付けられている熱可塑性樹脂材料を
使用した容器、機械類等に広く適用可能である。たとえ
ば、振動がかかる自動車のエンジンロッカーカバーやシ

キー板の接合、ゴルフクラブヘッドのソール取り付け等
に適用することができる。

【実施例】
実施例1 炭素繊維が60容積%を占める炭素繊維強化ナイロン6
6樹脂の寸法が100mm×100mm×30mmの板
材に同一寸法で、厚みが10mmの鋼板を接合するに当
たり、この鋼板に設けた貫通孔(直径6mmφ)と前記
板材に設けた非貫通孔(直径5.8mmφ)とが合致す
るように積層した状態で鋼板側から前記炭素繊維強化ナ
イロン66樹脂からなる図2の形状の直径6mmφ,長
さ20mmの頭付きピンを挿入し、その頭部を鋼板の孔
入り口に係止させると共に、ピン本体を板材側の孔に嵌
合させる。次いで頭部付きピンに超音波ホーンを用いて
超音波を当てることにより、ピン本体1aの端部と板材
とを融着させた。
【0015】このような接合方法により得られた積層板
について、その耐衝撃性を下記試験方法により評価し、
その結果を表1に示した。耐衝撃性試験方法 :前記積層板を試験サンプルとして使
用し、これを台上に置いて、その上方10cmの高さの
位置からR=25mm,100kgの錘を繰り返し10
回落下させて上記積層板の落下部分における異常の発生
の有無を調べた。 実施例2 実施例1において、炭素繊維強化ナイロン66樹脂の代
わりにポリカーボネート樹脂を使用した板材と図5の形
状のピンとを製作し、また、鋼板の代わりにアルミ板を
準備した。
【0016】これら板材とアルミ板の孔をそれぞれ対応
合致させて重ね合わせ、アルミ板側の孔からピンを通
し、板材の孔に嵌合した状態でピンをドリルで回転する
ことにより摩擦熱を発生させてピンの端部を板材に融着
させた。得られた積層板の耐衝撃性を上記方法により評
価し、その結果を表1に示した。 比較例1 実施例1において、炭素繊維強化ナイロン66樹脂のピ
ンの代わりにステンレス製の木ネジ(M6)を使用した
以外は同様にして積層板を製作した。得られた積層板の
耐衝撃性を上記方法により評価し、結果を表1に示し
た。
【0017】 表1中、CF強化ナイロン66=炭素繊維強化ナイロン6
6樹脂。表1から、比較例1の接合方法により得られた
積層板は、耐衝撃性が悪く接合部分にガタを生じたのに
対し、実施例1及び2の接合方法により得られた積層板
は耐衝撃性に優れ、ガタ等の異常が認められなかった。

【発明の効果】本発明によれば、熱可塑性樹脂から形成
した頭部付きピンを利用し、その頭部を他材料に係合さ
せた状態にして、ピン端部を熱可塑性樹脂材料側に挿入
し、頭部付きピンに外部エネルギーを加えることによっ
て、そのピン端部と熱可塑性樹脂材料との間を融着させ
るため、他材料側の種類の如何に拘わらず強固に接合す
ることができる。

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項1】 少なくとも一方が熱可塑性樹脂からなる
    材料と他材料との接合方法において、前記熱可塑性樹脂
    材料と他材料との間に、その他材料を貫通して前記熱可
    塑性樹脂材料の内部に達する孔を設け、この孔に、熱可
    塑性樹脂からなる頭部付きピンを、その端部を前記熱可
    塑性樹脂材料側の孔に侵入させると共に、頭部を前記他
    材料の孔入り口に係止させるように挿入し、この頭部付
    きピンに外部エネルギーを与えて少なくとも前記ピンの
    端部と前記熱可塑性樹脂材料との間を融着させる複数材
    料間の接合方法。
