【０００１】
【産業上の利用分野】本発明はゴルフクラブの構造に関
し、詳細には長さ、ピッチ角度、ライ角度、重量および
打面を変更可能とした万能型ゴルフクラブに関する。
【０００２】
【従来の技術および発明が解決しようとする課題】本発
明は米国特許商標局文書開示プログラム第２３７５５４
号として登録されたものである。
【０００３】米国特許第３６０１３９９号、第３８９３
６７０号、第３９３１９６９号および第４７７８１８０
号の各明細書にはゴルフクラブのシャフトに相対的な打
面の方向を変更可能とする各種の構造が開示されている
。
【０００４】これらの前述の従来技術はそれらの特定の
目的および機能について満足すべきものではあるが、シ
ャフトおよびヘッドのピッチ角度および長さの可変性に
ついて不満足であるのみでなく、シャフトに相対的なヘ
ッドのライ角度および重量に関しても共通的に不満足で
ある。
【０００５】前述した従来技術の大部分はヘッドのピッ
チ角度に関するものであって、少くとも米国特許第３９
３１９６９号明細書はピッチ角度および長さの両者に関
するものであるが、上述の４つを調節可能とする従来技
術はない。
【０００６】そこで、長さ、重量、ライ角度、ピッチ角
度の４つを変更可能とする万能的なゴルフクラブについ
て要望されており、本発明の目的はこれを達成するゴル
フクラブを得るにある。
【０００７】
【課題を解決するための手段】本発明による万能型ゴル
フクラブは調節可能長さのハンドルと、シャフトと、可
変の重量、ライおよびピッチのヘッドとを含む。該調節
可能長さのハンドルはシャフトの一端に配置され、ヘッ
ドはシャフトの他端に配置される。
【０００８】以下に詳述するように、ヘッドの構造は特
殊であって２重歯つき装置が使用され、これによって使
用者はヘッドの角度方向を２つの独立なほぼ垂直な水平
軸線の回りに変化せしめ、これによってヘッドの打面の
ピッチ角およびライ角を選択的に決定することができる
。
【０００９】さらに、ヘッドの構造は複数の別個の大き
い重量インサート（挿入物）を収容可能となされ、ヘッ
ドの全重量のみでなくヘッドの重量分布も選択的に変更
可能となされる。

【実施例】本発明の上述以外の目的、構成および効果は
、以下の説明および例示の目的で示す本発明の望ましい
実施例によるゴルフクラブを示す添付図面を参照するこ
とにより明確となされる。
【００１１】図面、特に図１に本発明の望ましい実施例
として万能型ゴルフクラブを全体として数字１０で示す
。このゴルフクラブ１０は調節可能長さのハンドル１１
と、シャフト１２と、可変重量、可変ピッチ角度および
可変ライ角度のヘッド１３とを含む。これら各部につい
て以下に詳述する。
【００１２】図１および図６に示すように調節可能長さ
のハンドル１１は細長い外側グリップ部材１４を含み、
部材１４は細長いほぼ矩形の凹所すなわち孔１５をグリ
ップ部材１４の長手方向軸線に沿って有し、孔１５と連
通する周縁開口１６が設けられている。
【００１３】さらに、ハンドル１１は、ほぼ矩形の内側
ハンドル素子１７を含み、その寸法は外側グリップ部材
１４の矩形の孔１５に滑動可能に収容されるに適してい
る。内側ハンドル素子１７には複数の垂直方向の整合す
る凹所１８と中央のほぼ矩形の凹所１９とが設けられて
いる。それらの機能は後述する。
【００１４】さらに、ハンドル１１は、外側ハンドル部
材１４の開口１６と内側ハンドル素子１７の選択された
１つの凹所１８とに収容されるに適した寸法を有する細
長い軸２１を有する錠止めピン部材２０を含み、これに
よって外側ハンドル部材１４と内側ハンドル素子１７と
は公知のように作動的に連結される。
【００１５】図１、図４および図６に示すように、シャ
フト１２は細長いシャフト部材２２を含み、部材２２は
細くなった下端２２とほぼ矩形の上端２４とを有し、該
上端２４はハンドル１１の内側ハンドル素子１７を構成
し、外側ハンドル部材１４の矩形の孔１５に収容される
。
【００１６】図４および図５に示すようにシャフト部材
２２のテーパした下端２２はヘッド取付け素子３０に固
定されるに適した寸法を有しており、ヘッド取付け素子
３０は上方部分に形成されたテーパする凹所３１を含む
。該ヘッド取付け素子３０の下方部分には水平方向に配
置された横方向孔３２が貫通して設けられる。横方向孔
３２に隣接して第１の歯つき部分３３が設けられる。
【００１７】図８に示すように、ヘッド１３は打面部材
３４と、本体部材３５と、後部本体部材３６とを含み、
これらが２重または２面歯つき部材３７によってヘッド
取付け素子３０に連結される。
【００１８】図２に示すように歯つき部材３７は２つの
互いに垂直方向の歯面３８、３９を有する。内側歯面３
８には細長い第１の取付けポスト素子４０が設けられ、
素子４０はヘッド取付け素子３０の横方向孔３２に収容
され貫通延長するに適している。歯つき部材３７の外側
歯面３９には開口４１が設けられており、これについて
は後述する。
【００１９】図８に示すようにヘッド１３の本体部材３
５は歯つき部材３７に固着されておらず、歯つき部材３
７の外側歯面３９の開口４１に整合する横方向孔４２が
設けられている。さらに、本体部材３５には複数の細長
い凹所４３が設けられているが、これについては後述す
る。
【００２０】図８に示すように打面部材３４には、その
後面に形成された歯を有する第２の補助的歯素子４５が
設けられている。該補助的歯素子４５は中央部に第２の
細長い取付けポスト素子４６を有し、これは歯つき部材
３７と本体部材３５とのそれぞれの開口４１、４２を貫
通延長するに適している。
【００２１】図３に示すように、１対の補完的な歯面５
０が互いに係合したときには両部材の相対的回転は防止
される。
【００２２】図８および図９において、後部本体部材３
６は本体部材３５の後部に固着されて第２の取付けポス
ト素子４６が本体部材３５の後部を超えて突出して後部
本体部材３６内に延長する。さらに、後部本体部材３６
の内部は中空であり、望ましくは本体部材３５から偏位
している。
【００２３】前述のように本体部材３５には複数の細長
い凹所４３が設けられている。凹所４３は選択された数
および配置のピン重量４８を収容するに適しており、こ
れによりヘッドの重量特性を変化せしめることが可能で
ある
【００２４】図１および図８において、第１および第２
の取付けポスト素子４０、４６には錠止めキャップ部材
６０が設けられ、作動的に解放可能にポスト素子４０、
４６をそれぞれヘッド取付け素子３０と本体部材３５と
に固定し、それぞれの共働する歯面の噛合い係合状態を
維持する。
【００２５】本体部材３５と後部本体部材３６とは打面
部材３４に相対的に垂直方向に偏位しているが、これに
ついて以下に述べる。
【００２６】本発明によるゴルフクラブ１０は従来技術
に対比して著しい効果を有する。すなわち、ハンドルの
有効長さが独立に変更可能であり、ヘッド１３はピボッ
ト的に２つの独立な直角方向の軸線の回りに、取付けポ
スト素子４０、４６によってピボット運動可能となされ
る。
【００２７】ヘッドを取付けポスト素子４０の回りに回
転せしめると打面部材３４のピッチ角度が変化して、打
面部材３４を取付けポスト素子４６の回りに回転せしめ
ると打面部材３４のライ角度が変化する。
【００２８】重量素子をヘッド１３内に位置および数量
を選択的に配置する本発明の技術は従来の可変型ゴルフ
クラブに提案されなかった特性である。
【００２９】本発明の望ましい実施例について説明した
が、各種の変更、代替および改変が上述記載から容易で
ある。本発明は請求の範囲の記載によって限定される。

Claims (9)

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項１】　　ゴルフクラブにして、上端と下端とを
    有するシャフトと、シャフトの上端に作動的に関連する
    調節可能な長さのハンドルと、シャフトの下端に作動的
    に取付けられたクラブヘッド取付け素子と、該クラブヘ
    ッド取付け素子に第１の軸線の回りに回転可能に連結さ
    れたクラブヘッドとを含み、該クラブヘッドが、本体部
    材と、該本体部材に第２の軸線の回りに回転可能に連結
    された打面部材とを含み、第２の軸線は本体部材を貫通
    延長し第１の軸線にほぼ垂直であることを特徴とするゴ
    ルフクラブ。
  2. 【請求項２】　　請求項１に記載のゴルフクラブにして
    、クラブヘッド取付け素子が第１の取付けポスト素子に
    よって本体部材に作動的に連結されていることを特徴と
    するゴルフクラブ。
  3. 【請求項３】　　請求項２に記載のゴルフクラブにして
    、打面部材が本体部材に第２の取付けポスト素子によっ
    て作動的に連結されていることを特徴とするゴルフクラ
    ブ。
  4. 【請求項４】　　請求項２に記載のゴルフクラブにして
    、クラブヘッドが、前記本体部材の後方部分に連結され
    た後部中空本体部材を含むことを特徴とするゴルフクラ
    ブ。
  5. 【請求項５】　　請求項３に記載のゴルフクラブにして
    、前記本体部材に固定され２つの直角に整合する歯つき
    面を有し、該歯つき面が第１の軸線に軸方向に整合する
    内側歯つき面と第２の軸線に軸方向に整合する外側歯つ
    き面とを含む主歯つき部材を含むことを特徴とするゴル
    フクラブ。
  6. 【請求項６】　　請求項５に記載のゴルフクラブにして
    、クラブヘッド取付け素子に前記第１の取付けポスト素
    子を収容する寸法の開口が設けられ、該第１の取付けポ
    スト素子は前記内側歯つき面から外方に突出することを
    特徴とするゴルフクラブ。
  7. 【請求項７】　　請求項６に記載のゴルフクラブにして
    、クラブヘッド取付け素子の前記横方向開口が第１の補
    助歯つき素子によって囲まれ、該第１の補助歯つき素子
    は前記内側歯つき面に係合する寸法を有していることを
    特徴とするゴルフクラブ。
  8. 【請求項８】　　請求項７に記載のゴルフクラブにして
    、前記本体部材に第２の取付けポスト素子を収容する寸
    法の横方向開口が設けられ、該第２の取付けポスト素子
    は打面部材から後方に突出することを特徴とするゴルフ
    クラブ。
  9. 【請求項９】　　請求項９に記載のゴルフクラブにして
    、前記第２の取付けポスト素子が第２の補助歯つき素子
    によって囲まれ、該第２の補助歯つき素子は前記外側歯
    つき面と係合する寸法を有することを特徴とするゴルフ
    クラブ。
