In the casing 7, the toner T supplied from the pumping roller 6 to the developing sleeve 5a is magnetically attracted by the magnet group 5b to form a magnetic brush, and as the developing sleeve 5a rotates, the toner T is sequentially applied to the photoreceptor. It is moved toward drum 1. During this process, the height of the toner on the developing sleeve 5a is adjusted by the blade 11, and then the toner is subjected to development. Reference numeral 12 indicates a separator that controls the flow of toner within the casing 7.

The exposure section 13 is located between the dry developing device 4 and the charging charger 2, and is irradiated with a light image of the document via the exposure optical system 14 etc., and the electrostatic latent image formed at this time is transferred to the dry developing device 4. The device 4 visualizes it as a toner image. On the way, this toner image is irradiated with light from a pre-transfer exposure lamp 15 to weaken the adhesion force with the photoreceptor drum 1 to a level suitable for transfer, and then, while passing through three transfer chargers, Transferred to transfer paper.

However, the above conventional technology has the following drawbacks.
In other words, the developed toner image is disturbed between the lower end 7a of the opening of the casing 7, which forms an opening facing the photoreceptor drum 1 in the development area, and the photoreceptor drum 1. A gap is provided in order to prevent the toner from falling, and fine toner powder leaks and scatters from this gap and lands on a part of the pre-transfer exposure lamp 15. As a result, the pre-transfer exposure lamp 15, which has a length in the longitudinal direction of the axis of the developing roller 5, becomes dirty and the amount of light irradiated by the exposure lamp 15 changes. As a result, an appropriate level of transfer cannot be maintained, resulting in abnormal image quality. Furthermore, the fallen toner also falls and adheres to the transfer charger and transfer paper guide (not shown) disposed in the transfer section, making the action of the transfer charger imbalanced in the longitudinal direction and transferring the toner. It also adheres to the paper and stains the transfer paper.

The present invention has been made in view of the above-mentioned problems in the prior art, and it is an object of the present invention to provide a dry type developing device that can prevent fine toner powder from scattering to the outside from the gap at the lower end of the casing.

The dry-type developing device according to the present invention performs the development at a position opposite to or very close to the commutative electrode, upstream of the commutative pole, and downstream of the developing area in the rotational direction of the developing roller in the opening. It is characterized by having a seal member that comes into contact with the developer on the roller, has its other end fixed to the casing, and seals scattered toner generated by spikes of developer on the counter electrode into the developing device. .

To explain an embodiment, a brush as an example of a sealing member according to the present invention is shown with reference numeral 1 in FIG.
Indicated by 6. This brush 16 is the developing sleeve 5a.
Upper, the commutative electrode 5b is disposed so as to face forward in the rotational direction of the developing sleeve 5a at a position facing the 2 , so as to come into contact with the developing sleeve or the toner on the developing sleeve, and the proximal end portion is fixedly planted on the lower end 7a of the casing 7. This brush 16 is provided across the axial longitudinal direction of the developing sleeve 5a, and has a wire diameter of approximately
100 μm, the length of the free length part is approximately 7 mm, the density of flocking is 20,000 to 30,000 per square inch, and soft fibers such as acrylic fibers are used.

The reason why the brush 16 is provided in the above position is that
Toner spikes Q on the developing roller 5 corresponding to b 2
This is due to the idea of sealing at the front position of the standing ear Q. In other words, the brush 16 captures and seals most of the toner cloud that accompanies the above-mentioned spikes and scatters outward from the lower end of the casing. For example, the toner on the developing sleeve 5a is attracted to the developing sleeve 5a by the magnetic field of the main pole 5b1 . In the developing area, the magnetic brush is raised up and used for development in that state, but at an intermediate position between the main pole 5b1 and the subpole 5b2 , the magnetic brush is in a fallen state. Then, when it enters a region where the magnetic field of the copole 5b2 acts strongly, the ears will rise again. As mentioned above, when the spikes stand, the toner at the tip becomes easy to separate, and some of it separates and scatters, falling through the gap at the lower end of the casing, resulting in the above-mentioned prior art. This was causing the problem.

The brush 16, which is an example of the sealing member according to the present invention, is in light contact with the toner in a state where the ears have fallen down, and captures the toner that has separated from the tips of the ears or is about to separate. In other words, if the brush 16 is arranged so as to be in contact with the developing sleeve 5a very close to the commutative pole 5b2 , it is possible to capture the toner just before or after separation due to blistering occurs, and the toner can be captured by the commutative pole 5b2.
If it is placed in the vicinity of b 2 and in contact with the developing sleeve 5a near the main pole 5b 1 , it will function as a seal to trap the separated and scattered toner to prevent it from coming out. .

As the brush 16 continues to be used, the toner trapped in the brush 16 will gradually accumulate, and there is a concern that the toner will accumulate. In this regard, the density of the brush 16 should be set appropriately and fibers with soft waist should be selected. No problem will arise by doing so. Furthermore, if a material similar to the charging series of the toner to be used is used as the brush material, it is more effective to prevent toner from accumulating since it is difficult for an electric attraction force to act between the toner and the brush.

In the experimental results, good results were obtained with the brush 16, but instead of the brush 16, a weak film-like elastic material may be used as a sealing member, and the brush 16 may be used as a sealing member, and the brush may be lightly contacted with the toner in a fallen state. It is thought that a similar sealing effect can be obtained. Note that considering the leakage of toner from the entire developing device, it is naturally necessary to consider not only the lower end of the casing but also the upper end 7b of the casing. However, the generation of toner cloud does not only occur on the developing roller 5 corresponding to the commutative electrode 5b2 , but also occurs, for example, due to the spike K on the developing roller 5 corresponding to the commutative electrode 5b5.
Also, toner T is applied to the photoreceptor drum 1 at the entrance of the development area.
This is because it is also caused by the impact when the two collide.

And the above toner cloud is casing 7
There is a possibility that the liquid may leak out from the gap between the upper end portion 7b and the photosensitive drum 1 and contaminate the inside of the apparatus, especially the optical system. Therefore, as a countermeasure, if the inlet sealing member 20 is provided so that the base end is fixed to the upper end 7b and the free end is in contact with the circumferential surface of the photoreceptor ram 1, the sealing of the developing device will be more complete. It can be made close to. This sealing member 20 is made of an insulating material so as not to disturb the electrostatic latent image on the photoreceptor drum 1, and a material that is not easily charged by frictional contact with the photoreceptor drum 1 is selected. There is a need. For example, regarding insulation, when in contact with photoreceptor drum 1 at a width of 300 mm,
A film-like or brush-like member exhibiting a resistance value of 10 9 Ω or more is preferable. Specifically, for example, a brush made of Teflon (trade name) and having a structure similar to the brush 16 described above is used.

Alternatively, when a two-component toner is used, a mode may be considered in which a magnet is disposed at the upper end portion 7b and the toner carrier is attracted to the magnet to form the inlet sealing member 20.
