Description
Claims (12)
- 複数の表示パネルが重ね合わされて配置され、それぞれの前記表示パネルに画像を表示する液晶表示装置であって、
第1表示パネルと、
前記第1表示パネルに重畳して配置された第2表示パネルと、
を含み、
前記第2表示パネルは、ソース線とゲート線と薄膜トランジスタと有機絶縁膜とが形成された第1基板と、前記第1基板に対向配置された第2基板と、前記第1基板及び前記第2基板の間に配置された液晶層と、を含み、
前記第1基板には、前記第1基板と前記第2基板との間の距離を保持する第1スペーサが形成されており、
前記第1スペーサ及び前記有機絶縁膜は、ポジ型感光性樹脂からなり、
前記第1表示パネルは、ソース線とゲート線と薄膜トランジスタとが形成された第3基板と、第3基板に対向配置された第4基板と、を含み、
前記第4基板には、前記第3基板と前記第4基板との間の距離を保持する第2スペーサが形成されており、
前記第2スペーサは、ネガ型感光性樹脂からなる、
ことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1スペーサ及び前記有機絶縁膜は、一体である、
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第2表示パネルは、前記第1基板上に形成された、前記ゲート線と、前記ゲート線を覆うゲート絶縁膜と、前記ゲート絶縁膜上に形成された前記薄膜トランジスタを構成する電極と、前記電極を覆う保護絶縁膜と、前記保護絶縁膜上に形成された前記有機絶縁膜と、前記有機絶縁膜上に形成された共通電極と、前記共通電極を覆う上層絶縁膜と、前記上層絶縁膜上に形成された前記第1スペーサ及び画素電極と、を含む、
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第2表示パネルは、前記第1基板上に形成された、前記ゲート線と、前記ゲート線を覆うゲート絶縁膜と、前記ゲート絶縁膜上に形成された前記薄膜トランジスタを構成する電極と、前記電極を覆う保護絶縁膜と、前記保護絶縁膜上に形成された前記有機絶縁膜と、前記有機絶縁膜上に形成された共通電極と、前記共通電極を覆う上層絶縁膜と、前記上層絶縁膜上に形成された画素電極と、を含み、
前記第1スペーサは、前記有機絶縁膜と一体である、
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第2表示パネルは、さらに前記第1基板に形成された第3スペーサを含み、
前記第3スペーサと前記第2基板との間に空間が形成されており、
前記第3スペーサは、ポジ型感光性樹脂からなる、
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1スペーサは、平面視で前記ソース線に重畳しており、前記第3スペーサは、平面視で前記ソース線に重畳していない、
ことを特徴とする請求項5に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第2表示パネルは、さらに、前記第1基板上に形成された、画素電極と、前記画素電極に対向配置された共通電極と、前記共通電極に電気的に接続され、金属層から成る共通配線とを含み、
前記第1スペーサは、平面視で前記共通配線に重畳しており、前記第3スペーサは、平面視で前記共通配線に重畳していない、
ことを特徴とする請求項5に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1スペーサ、前記第3スペーサ及び前記有機絶縁膜は、一体であり、
前記有機絶縁膜の前記液晶層側の上面を基準として、前記第1スペーサの高さは、前記第3スペーサの高さと実質的に同じである、
ことを特徴とする請求項5に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1スペーサ、前記第3スペーサ及び前記有機絶縁膜は、一体であり、
前記有機絶縁膜の前記液晶層側の上面を基準として、前記第1スペーサの高さは、前記第3スペーサの高さよりも高い、
ことを特徴とする請求項5に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第3基板又は前記第4基板の何れか一方には、さらにカラーフィルタが形成されている、
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1スペーサの設置面に対する傾斜角度は60度未満であり、前記第2スペーサの設置面に対する傾斜角度は60度以上である、
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第2表示パネルにおける単位面積当たりの画素の数は、前記第1表示パネルにおける単位面積当たりの画素の数より少ない、
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
