Description

本開示は、概して、組織をシールするための医療用デバイスに関し、より具体的には、以前に縫合またはステープル留めされたものを含む脈管および血管組織をシール、焼灼、凝固、および/または乾燥するために、制御された圧縮およびエネルギー放射を提供するための、対向する顎部を含むエンドエフェクタアセンブリを含む、鉗子の形態の電気手術デバイスに関する。
大部分の外科手術手技は、脈管、創傷、または切開部のある形態の閉鎖を要求する。例えば、多くの手技において、外科医は、脈管を外科手術的に閉塞する、創傷を閉鎖する、ならびに組織の一部を相互に結合する(例えば、バイパス外科手術および吻合成形)手段として、縫合糸に依拠するであろう。ごく最近では、ステープル留めが、手動の縫合よりはるかに迅速であり得、またより正確かつ一貫し得るため、外科手術用ステープルおよびクリップが、適切な場合、縫合糸の代わりに一般的に使用されつつある。さらに、ステープル留めは、縫合が概して要求する経験および専門知識の程度を要求しない場合がある。ステープルは、ステープルラインが、より一貫しており、したがって、血液、空気、または腸の内容物を漏出させる可能性が低くあり得るため、主に腸および肺の外科手術において使用され得る。
