Description

l")が挙げられる。好適な気化器は複合体として特許文献1にも触れられており、その
全内容を本明細書に引用したものとする。
本開示のマトリックスは気化性液の保持に好適であることが要求される。例えば、気化性液は必要であればグリセロール、水または他の成分などの1つ以上の他の成分と組み合わされるニコチンなどの物質を含んでもよい。
トリックスが気化器の2つ以上の面と接触してもよい。例えば、複数のマトリックスが存在する場合、各マトリックスは第1面と共通の縁部を形成する面と接触してもよい。例えば、気化器が矩形(3次元)であり、よって6つの面(上、下、第1側部、第2側部、第1端部、第2端部)を含む場合、気化器の第1面は上または下面(向きによるが)に対応し、そして第2面が第1または第2側部または第1または第2端部のいずれか1つであってもよく、1つ以上のマトリックスが気化器の残りの5つの面のいずれかと接触する。言い換えれば、少なくとも1つのマトリックスが少なくとも第2面と接触し、1つ以上の追加のマトリックスが残りの面と接触することができる。しかしながら、通常は少なくとも一部、好ましくは第1面全体、例えば上または下面(矩形の気化器の場合)がマトリックスと接触しないことが想定される。実際、上記面は実質的にあらゆる他の面(電気的および固定するための接触以外)と接触せずに気化したら液体の効率的な蒸発および配分できるようにするのが好ましい。1つの実施態様では第1面はマトリックスと接触しない。1つの実施態様では気化器の第1面とマトリックス間のあらゆる接触を最小限にする。この点に関しマトリックスが弾性材で形成されている場合、気化器と接触する領域が僅かに圧縮されるかもしれない。この僅かな圧縮によって表面上接触する程度にマトリックスの表面が第1面に覆い被さる。このような接触は、気化器とマトリックス間の効率的な毛管リンクを構築するには充分だと言える。従って、1つの実施態様では気化器の第1面は実質的にマトリックスとは接触しない。実質的に第1面と同等の表面領域の対向する面がある場合(例えば、上面が第1面に対応する矩形の気化器の下面)、その対向する面もまたマトリックスと接触しない(または上述したように実質的に接触しない)。マトリックスが第1面と接触する場合、第1面の一部はマトリックスまたは当然のことながら気化器集成部品のあらゆる他の部材と接触しないと有利であると考えられている。このような構成により気化した液体は毛管構造を介して第1面から吐き出される。
面を介して気化器に送られることにより気化または温度勾配が気化器100、200の幅に亘って構築される。特定の理論に縛られるものではないが、この勾配は気化器の中央と比較して気化器の第2(側)面がマトリックスにはるかに近いことにより少なくとも部分的に形成される。気化器のこの部分を通る液体の相対流れは、従って気化器の中央の方への流れより多くなり、従ってこれらの領域の気化器の温度をかなり低下させる。さらに加熱されない通常より多くのマトリックスは加熱された気化器のための放熱板を形成する。この気化勾配は、気化される液体が異なる沸点の複数の物質を含む場合特に有利である。気化器100、200に形成された毛管構造の自然の作用がマトリックス150から内方に側面(ここで定義された第2面)を介して液体を引き込み、そして気化勾配の結果、気化器は異なる沸点の複数の物質を同時に蒸発させる。例えば、気化される液体が各々異なる沸点を有するニコチン、水およびグリセロールを含んでいる場合、各物質を実質的に同時に気化させることができ、よりバランスの取れた分布のエアロゾルが得られる。気化器101に亘って設定される勾配の例を図7に示す。当然のことながらこの勾配は、気化器が気化器の長手方向軸に実質的に直交する方向に気化性液が供給されるように構成されている場合に通常構築される。
発生/エネルギーの放出を第2面から離れて維持しやすくなり、エネルギーは(スロットが無いと)マトリックスによってすぐに吸収されてしまうので、よってスロットは上述したように放熱器として考慮してもよい。その結果、スロットは蒸発効率を上昇させる。
