Description
本実施の形態では、図1乃至図12を用いて、本発明の一態様に係る二次電池の構成の例について説明する。
図1乃至図3に、本発明の一態様に係る二次電池10の構造を示す。図1(A)は、二次電池10の斜視図であり、図1(B)は二次電池10の上面図であり、図2(A)、図2(B)、図3(A)及び図3(B)は二次電池10の断面図である。
正極111は、正極集電体101と、正極集電体101に接して形成された正極活物質層102などにより構成される。
負極115は、負極集電体105と、負極集電体105上に形成された負極活物質層106などにより構成される。
セパレータ103を形成するための材料として、セルロースや、ポリプロピレン(PP)、ポリエチレン(PE)、ポリブテン、ナイロン、ポリエステル、ポリスルホン、ポリアクリロニトリル、ポリフッ化ビニリデン、テトラフルオロエチレン等の多孔性絶縁体を用いることができる。また、ガラス繊維等の不織布や、ガラス繊維と高分子繊維を複合した隔膜を用いてもよい。
二次電池10に用いる電解液104の溶媒としては、非プロトン性有機溶媒が好ましく、例えば、エチレンカーボネート(EC)、プロピレンカーボネート(PC)、ブチレンカーボネート、クロロエチレンカーボネート、ビニレンカーボネート、γ−ブチロラクトン、γ−バレロラクトン、ジメチルカーボネート(DMC)、ジエチルカーボネート(DEC)、エチルメチルカーボネート(EMC)、ギ酸メチル、酢酸メチル、酪酸メチル、1,3−ジオキサン、1,4−ジオキサン、ジメトキシエタン(DME)、ジメチルスルホキシド、ジエチルエーテル、メチルジグライム、アセトニトリル、ベンゾニトリル、テトラヒドロフラン、スルホラン、スルトン等の1種、又はこれらのうちの2種以上を任意の組み合わせ及び比率で用いることができる。
二次電池の構造としては、様々な構造があるが、本実施の形態では、外装体107a乃至107cの形成にフィルムを用いる。なお、外装体107a乃至107cを形成するためのフィルムは金属フィルム(アルミニウム、ステンレス、ニッケル鋼など)、有機材料からなるプラスチックフィルム、有機材料(有機樹脂や繊維など)と無機材料(セラミックなど)とを含むハイブリッド材料フィルム、炭素含有無機フィルム(カーボンフィルム、グラファイトフィルムなど)から選ばれる単層フィルムまたはこれら複数からなる積層フィルムを用いる。金属フィルムは、エンボス加工を行いやすく、エンボス加工を行って凹部または凸部を形成すると外気に触れる外装体107a乃至107cの表面積が増大するため、放熱効果に優れている。
図1及び図2に示す二次電池10では、正極111及び負極115をそれぞれ単層で用いる構成としたが、本発明はこれに限られるものではない。例えば、二次電池10において、正極111及び負極115を複数積層して用いる構成としてもよい。図7(A)乃至(C)に、正極111及び負極115を2層積層して用いた二次電池10を示す。なお、図7(A)は、図1(B)の一点鎖線A3―A4に対応する部分の断面図であり、図7(B)は、図1(B)の一点鎖線A5―A6に対応する部分の断面図であり、図7(C)は、図1(B)の一点鎖線A1―A2に対応する部分の断面図である。
図1及び図2に示す二次電池10では、3枚の外装体107a乃至107cに、正極111、負極115及びセパレータ103が覆われる構成としたが、本発明はこれに限られるものではない。例えば、図10(A)乃至(C)に示すように、二次電池10の外装体の枚数が2枚以下となる構成としてもよい。なお、図10(A)乃至(C)は、図1(B)の一点鎖線A3―A4に対応する部分の断面図である。
図1及び図2に示す二次電池10では、正極111及び負極115はそれぞれ、第1の部位11側と第2の部位12側がつながれる形状としているが、本発明はこれに限られるものではない。例えば、図11(A)乃至(D)に示すように、正極111が第1の部位11側の正極111aと第2の部位12側の正極111bとに分割され、負極115が第1の部位11側の負極115aと第2の部位12側の負極115bとに分割される構成としてもよい。なお、図11(A)は、図1(B)の一点鎖線A3―A4に対応する部分の断面図であり、図11(B)は、正極111の上面図である。また、図11(C)は、図1(B)の一点鎖線A5―A6に対応する部分の断面図であり、図11(D)は、負極115の上面図である。
また、図12(A)及び(B)に示すように、図1及び図2に示す二次電池10にさらに緩衝材130を設ける構成としてもよい。なお、図12(A)は、二次電池10の上面図であり、図12(B)は、図12(A)の一点鎖線A3―A4に対応する部分の断面図である。
本実施の形態では、図13乃至図15を用いて、先の実施の形態に示す二次電池の作製方法の一例を説明する。
まず、負極集電体105上に負極活物質層106を形成し、第3の部位13に対応する部分に切欠き又は開口を設けて負極115を形成する(図13(A)参照)。なお、負極活物質層106は、負極115の第1の部位11と第2の部位12に対応する部分に形成されていればよい。
次に、正極集電体101上に正極活物質層102を形成し、第3の部位13に対応する部分に切欠き又は開口を設けて正極111を形成する。なお、正極活物質層102は、正極111の第1の部位11と第2の部位12に対応する部分に形成されていればよい。次いで、折り曲げたセパレータ103で正極111の第1の部位11側と第2の部位12側を挟む(図13(B)参照)。
次に、正極111及び負極115を積み重ねる(図14(A)参照)。本実施の形態では、片面に正極活物質層102を形成した正極111を4枚、片面に負極活物質層106を形成した負極115を4枚積層することとする。これらを、正極活物質層102と負極活物質層106が、セパレータ103を介して対向するように配置する。また、負極115の負極活物質層106が形成されていない面同士が接するように配置する。
次に、複数の正極集電体101の正極タブと、封止層120を有する正極リード121を、圧力を加えながら超音波を印加して接続する(以下、超音波溶接と呼ぶことがある。)。
次に、正極111及び負極115を外装体107bと外装体107cで挟む(図14(C)参照)。外装体107bと外装体107cの第3の部位13に対応する部分を、熱圧着により接合し、正極111と負極115を外装体107bと外装体107cで覆う(図14(D)参照)。ここで、外装体107bと外装体107cを熱圧着により接合した部位を、接合部107bcとして示す。接合部107bcは、正極リード121および負極リード125の有する封止層120と重なる。
次に、外装体107a及び外装体107bの封止されていない辺から、電解液104を注入する(図15(B)参照)。そして真空引き、加熱および加圧を行いながら、外装体107a及び外装体107bの残りの一辺を封止する。これらの操作は、グローブボックスを用いるなどして酸素を排除した低圧環境にて行う。真空引きは、脱気シーラー、注液シーラー等を用いて行うとよい。またシーラーが有する加熱可能な2本のバーで挟むことにより、加熱および加圧を行うことができる。例えば、低圧環境の圧力は60kPa、バーの加熱温度は190℃、バーによる加圧は0.1MPaにおいて3秒とすることができる。このとき、外装体107aの上から正極および負極を加圧してもよい。加圧により、電解液注入の際に混入した気泡を正極と負極の間から排除することができる。
上記実施の形態で説明した材料を含む二次電池と組み合わせて用いることができる電池制御ユニット(Battery Management Unit:BMU)、及び該電池制御ユニットを構成する回路に適したトランジスタについて、図17乃至図23を参照して説明する。本実施の形態では、特に直列に接続された電池セルを有する蓄電装置の電池制御ユニットについて説明する。
本実施の形態では、実施の形態1で説明した二次電池を電子機器に実装する例について説明する。

Claims (6)
- 第1の電極と、第2の電極と、セパレータと、前記第1の電極、前記第2の電極及び前記セパレータを内包する可撓性を有する外装体と、第1のリードと、第2のリードと、を有する二次電池であって、
前記二次電池は、第1の湾曲形状を有する第1の部位と、第2の湾曲形状を有する第2の部位と、前記第1の部位と前記第2の部位の間に位置する第3の部位と、を有し、
前記第1の電極は、前記第1の部位および前記第2の部位において、前記セパレータを介して前記第2の電極と重なる領域を有し、
前記第1の電極は、前記第3の部位において、屈曲する領域を有し、且つ前記第1のリードと接続され、
前記第2の電極は、前記第3の部位において、屈曲する領域を有し、且つ前記第2のリードと接続される二次電池。 - 第1の電極と、第2の電極と、セパレータと、第1のリードと、第2のリードと、可撓性を有する第1乃至第3の外装体と、を有する二次電池であって、
前記二次電池は、第1の湾曲形状を有する第1の部位と、第2の湾曲形状を有する第2の部位と、前記第1の部位と前記第2の部位の間に位置する第3の部位と、を有し、
前記第1の電極は、前記第1の部位および前記第2の部位において、前記セパレータを介して前記第2の電極と重なる領域を有し、
前記第1の電極は、前記第3の部位において、屈曲する領域を有し、且つ前記第1のリードと接続され、
前記第2の電極は、前記第3の部位において、屈曲する領域を有し、且つ前記第2のリードと接続され、
前記第1の外装体は、前記第1の部位において、前記第2の外装体と貼り合わせられ、前記第2の部位において、前記第3の外装体と貼り合わせられ、
前記第2の外装体は、前記第3の部位において、前記第3の外装体と貼り合わせられる二次電池。 - 請求項2において、
前記第2の外装体が前記第1の部位と前記第3の部位の境界で折り返される二次電池。 - 請求項2又は3において、
前記第1の外装体と、前記第1の電極又は前記第2の電極との間に緩衝材を設ける二次電池。 - 請求項1乃至4のいずれか一項において、
前記二次電池の前記第1の部位側の一辺の中点と、前記第2の部位側の一辺の中点とを結んだ方向について、前記第1の部位の長さは、前記第2の部位の長さの3分の1以上3倍以下である二次電池。 - 請求項1乃至5のいずれか一項において、
前記第1の電極、前記第2の電極、及び前記セパレータが複数積層され、
複数の前記第1の電極は、前記第3の部位において、前記第1のリードに固定され、
複数の前記第2の電極は、前記第3の部位において、前記第2のリードに固定される二次電池。
