Description
以下、図面を参照し、本発明の実施の形態を詳しく説明する。図中同一または相当部分には同一符号を付してその説明は繰り返さない。なお、説明を分かりやすくするために、以下で参照する図面においては、構成が簡略化または模式化して示されたり、一部の構成部材が省略されたりしている。また、各図に示された構成部材間の寸法比は、必ずしも実際の寸法比を示すものではない。
図1は、第1の実施形態における表示装置100の外観形状を示す図である。第1の実施形態における表示装置100は、角部が直角ではなく、滑らかな曲線のR形状を有する非矩形の形状である。同様に、画像の表示領域11も角部がR形状である非矩形の形状である。表示領域11の外側は非表示領域12である。

第1の実施形態では、非表示領域12が黒色であるものとして説明した。第2の実施形態では、非表示領域12が白色である場合について説明する。この場合、全てのサブ画素が非表示領域12内にある画素は、白色の膜で覆うようにしても良いし、当該画素を白色表示するようにしても良い。

Claims (3)
- 表示領域が非矩形である表示装置であって、
複数の色にそれぞれ対応する複数のサブ画素から構成されている矩形の画素が前記表示領域及び非表示領域に複数配置されており、
画像の表示時に、前記表示領域と前記非表示領域の両方に一部が含まれる境界画素の輝度値を調整する輝度値調整部を備え、
前記非表示領域にある全てのサブ画素は、画像の表示時に、同一の輝度値を呈し、
前記輝度値調整部は、
前記全てのサブ画素が前記非表示領域にある画素の輝度値と、前記境界画素に隣接し、かつ、全てのサブ画素が前記表示領域にある画素の輝度値とが異なる場合、全てのサブ画素が前記非表示領域にある画素の輝度値と、当該境界画素に隣接し、かつ、全てのサブ画素が前記表示領域にある画素の輝度値との間となるように調整し、
前記全てのサブ画素が前記非表示領域にある画素の輝度値と、前記境界画素に隣接し、かつ、全てのサブ画素が前記表示領域にある画素の輝度値とが同じである場合、当該境界画素の輝度値が前記全てのサブ画素が前記非表示領域にある画素の輝度値と等しくなるように調整する、輝度値調整部を備える、表示装置。 - 前記輝度値調整部は、前記境界画素の面積のうち、前記非表示領域に含まれる面積が多いほど、全てのサブ画素が前記非表示領域にある画素の輝度値に近くなるように、当該境界画素の輝度値を調整する、請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 前記輝度値調整部は、前記境界画素の面積のうち、前記表示領域に含まれる面積が多いほど、全てのサブ画素が前記表示領域にある画素の輝度値に近くなるように、当該境界画素の輝度値を調整する、請求項1または2に記載の表示装置。
