Description
SiC製の静止側摺動環と当該静止側摺動環に対向して配置されるSiC製の回転側摺動環との対向した摺動面同士が密接することにより超純水、純水等の比抵抗値の高い被密封流体をシールする水環境で使用するメカニカルシール装置において、
前記摺動面を含む摺動環は、母材としてのSiCにAl添加剤が配合された材料の焼結体で構成されており、該摺動面を含む摺動環の比抵抗値は100Ω・cm以下であることを特徴としている。
この特徴によれば、前記摺動面を含む摺動環は、SiCにAl添加剤が配合された材料の焼結体で一体に製造されているため、摺動環自体は比抵抗値が100Ω・cm以下の低抵抗、かつ大容積の吸電体として機能し、摺動面に電荷が溜まりにくくなる。そのため、電気化学的反応による摺動面及びその近傍へのSiO2の付着や摺動面の腐食が抑制され、良好なシール性を長期に確保できることになる。
この特徴によれば、摺動環の比抵抗値を低減することができ、水環境で使用しても摺動面に堆積が生じず良好なシール性を確保できる。

この特徴によれば、摺動面に生ずる電荷に対して両摺動環本体が協働して大容積の吸電体として機能することになるため、SiC製の摺動環へのSiO2の付着を、極力抑制できることになる。なお、摺動環本体は摺動環の摺動面と本体部とを有するものであり、摺動環本体のみにより摺動環が構成される場合と、摺動環本体と他体とにより摺動環が構成される場合とが含まれる。
この特徴によれば、摺動面に微小な気孔が露出されているため、気孔に被密封流体や潤滑剤等が入り込み潤滑効果が向上する。

この特徴によれば、摺動環の比抵抗値が100Ω・cm以下と低く、水環境で使用しても白色のSiO2堆積物が発生し難く、良好なシール性を確保できる。
この特徴によれば、前記摺動面を含む摺動環が、SiCにAl添加剤が配合された材料の焼結体であるため、摺動環自体は比抵抗値が100Ω・cm以下の低抵抗、かつ大容積の吸電体として機能し、摺動面に電荷が溜まりにくくなる。そのため、電気化学的反応による摺動面及びその近傍へのSiO2の付着や摺動面の腐食が抑制され、良好なシール性を長期に確保できることになる。
配合A
・主成分:炭化珪素微粉末(平均粒子径:0.7μm、純度97%)、残部
・B源:炭化ホウ素微粉末(平均粒子径:0.6μm)、0.14wt%
・C源:水溶性フェノール樹脂、2.0wt%
・Al添加剤:酸化アルミニウム粉末、0.5wt%、平均粒子径0.5μm
・その他:所定の量の結合剤、分散剤、離型剤
配合B
・主成分:炭化珪素微粉末(平均粒子径:0.7μm、純度97%)、残部
・B源:炭化ホウ素微粉末(平均粒子径:0.6μm)、0.14wt%
・C源:水溶性フェノール樹脂、2.0wt%
・Al添加剤:酸化アルミニウム粉末、1.0wt%、平均粒子径2.0μm
・その他:所定の量の結合剤、分散剤、離型剤
配合C
・主成分:炭化珪素微粉末(平均粒子径:0.7μm、純度97%)、残部
・B源:炭化ホウ素微粉末(平均粒子径:0.6μm)、0.14wt%
・C源:水溶性フェノール樹脂、2.0wt%
・その他:所定の量の結合剤、分散剤、離型剤
また、気孔の有無は、100μm四方内に0.5以上の開気孔の有無を基準として判断した。焼結体に気孔が含まれた試料Bについて、気孔率をJIS1634により測定したところ5体積%であった。一方、試料A、試料Cについては0体積%であった。
更に、摺動面における結晶構造を面積比で測定したところ、配合A,B中のSiCに4H結晶構造が多く含まれることを確認した。
これら、配合A〜C及び試料A〜Cの成分、気孔及びSiC結晶構造を表1にまとめた。
(実施例1)両摺動環とも配合Aの焼結体

シール液:超純水
液温:20℃
液圧:0.3MPa
軸回転数:1800rpm
評価時間:20時間
上述の試験条件により試験をした後、試験装置から回転側摺動環及び静止側摺動環の摺動面を顕微鏡によりSiO2の堆積の有無を観察した。また、試験中に試験装置外に漏れた超純水を回収しその量を計量した。
これらの結果を表2にまとめた。
また、C源として、水溶性フェノール樹脂を例に説明したが、水溶性フェノール樹脂以外のカーボンブラックであってもよい。上述と同様に、要するに、炭素が焼結助剤として機能し、焼結体が所望の強度や硬度が得られる材料であればよい。
また、Al添加剤として酸化アルミニウム粉末を例に説明したが、酸化アルミニウム粉末以外の窒化アルミニウム粉であってもよい。要するに、アルミニウムが低電気抵抗体として機能し、焼結体が所望の比抵抗値が得られる材料であればよい。
11 回転側摺動環
Claims (8)
- SiC製の静止側摺動環と当該静止側摺動環に対向して配置されるSiC製の回転側摺動環との対向した摺動面同士が密接することにより超純水、純水等の比抵抗値の高い被密封流体をシールするメカニカルシール装置において、
前記摺動面をそれぞれ含む前記静止側摺動環及び前記回転側摺動環のそれぞれは、母材としてのSiCにAl添加剤が配合された材料の焼結体で構成されており、それぞれの摺動環の比抵抗値は100Ω・cm以下であり、
前記静止側摺動環及び前記回転側摺動環が、4H結晶構造をそれぞれの摺動面に15%以上含むSiCであることを特徴とする水環境で使用するメカニカルシール装置。 - SiC製の静止側摺動環と当該静止側摺動環に対向して配置されるSiC製の回転側摺動環との対向した摺動面同士が密接することにより超純水、純水等の比抵抗値の高い被密封流体をシールするメカニカルシール装置において、
前記摺動面をそれぞれ含む前記静止側摺動環及び前記回転側摺動環のそれぞれは、母材としてのSiCにAl添加剤が配合された材料の焼結体で構成されており、それぞれの摺動環の比抵抗値は100Ω・cm以下であり、
前記静止側摺動環及び前記回転側摺動環のそれぞれが15R結晶構造を含むSiCであることを特徴とする水環境で使用するメカニカルシール装置。 - 前記静止側摺動環における摺動面を含む摺動環本体と、前記回転側摺動環における摺動面を含む摺動環本体と、の両摺動環本体が、母材としてのSiCにAl添加剤が配合された材料の焼結体で構成されていることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の水環境で使用するメカニカルシール装置。
- 前記静止側摺動環及び前記回転側摺動環の少なくとも一方の摺動環は、その焼結体の摺動面に平均径10〜60μmの気孔が露出していることを特徴とする請求項1乃至3のいずれかに記載の水環境で使用するメカニカルシール装置。
- 少なくとも前記一方の摺動環は、前記Al添加剤が、平均径10〜60μmの酸化アルミであることを特徴とする請求項1乃至4のいずれかに記載の水環境で使用するメカニカルシール装置。
- 前記静止側摺動環及び前記回転側摺動環のそれぞれは、B源0.05〜0.5wt%、C源1.0〜3.0wt%及びAl添加剤0.25〜1.25wt%、所定量の結合剤、分散剤、離型剤、残部としてSiCが配合された材料の焼結体であることを特徴とする請求項1乃至5のいずれかに記載の水環境で使用するメカニカルシール装置。
- 摺動面を含む摺動環が、SiCにAl添加剤が配合された材料の焼結体で構成され、該摺動面を含む摺動環の比抵抗値が100Ω・cm以下であり、
前記摺動環が、4H結晶構造をその摺動面に15%以上含むSiCであることを特徴とする水環境で使用するメカニカルシール装置の摺動環。 - 摺動面を含む摺動環が、SiCにAl添加剤が配合された材料の焼結体で構成され、該摺動面を含む摺動環の比抵抗値が100Ω・cm以下であり、
前記摺動環が15R結晶構造を含むSiCであることを特徴とする水環境で使用するメカニカルシール装置の摺動環。
