Description
この試験は、ソルダーマスク表面の硬度とその耐摩耗性を評価するために設計される。この試験は、ソルダーマスクでコーティングされ、製造業者の特定の仕様および硬化要求に従って硬化した3枚のIPC−B−25A基板で行われる。この基板は、硬い水平表面に配置される。最も硬い鉛筆(6H〜4Bの範囲のEagle Turquoiseブランド)が選択され、ソルダーマスクに対し、45度の角度でしっかりと保持される。次いで、鉛筆を1/4インチストロークで均一に前後に操作者から離す方向に押しつける。ソルダーマスクが切断されるか、またはえぐられる場合、マスクが切断されないことがわかるまで、その次に柔らかい鉛筆を使用する。次いで、ソルダーマスクが切断されず、またはえぐられなかった鉛筆硬度を記録する。いくつかの実施形態では、本明細書の硬化したソルダーマスクは、耐引っ掻き性4〜5Bおよび鉛筆硬度5〜6Hを示す。
この実施例は、エアロゾルジェット印刷用途に適したソルダーマスクインクの調製および試験を記載する。
市販のベースソルダーマスクペーストを最初に特性決定した。このペーストは、25℃で、10 1/sの低剪断速度での粘度35,018cP、および484 1/sの高剪断速度での粘度7490cPを示した。高剪断での粘度に対する低剪断での粘度の比率であるずり減粘指数は、4.68であると計算された。この粘度は、エアロゾルジェット印刷には高すぎる。本明細書の実施形態に従って、この市販のソルダーマスクを、本明細書に開示される列挙された溶媒を用いることによって、25℃で10 1/sの低剪断速度で1,000cP未満の目標粘度を達成するように改質した。市販のペーストは、高いずり減粘指数を有するため、溶媒が、1,000cP未満の低い剪断速度での粘度を効果的に下げることができるように元々のソルダーマスク配合物の粘度を下げることができるだけではなく、ずり減粘指数を下げることもできる溶媒を特定することが望ましかった。
緑色ソルダーマスクを配合するために一般的に使用される設計に従って、上で使用される白色ソルダーマスクペーストを、まず、少量の非イオン系界面活性剤(Synperonic F 108)と組み合わせ、アルコール溶媒であるブチルカルビトールで希釈した。25重量%のブチルカルビトールを加えたら、その粘度は、それぞれ剪断速度484 1/sおよび10 1/sで436cPおよび555cPと顕著に下がった。最初に、この組成物で銅基材をコーティングし、接着性および硬度を試験した。UV硬化の後、耐引っ掻き性3〜4Bおよび鉛筆硬度2〜3Hが観察され、これは、コントロール例1よりも顕著に悪かった。
溶媒を実質的に完全に蒸発させることができるため、コントロール例Bに非イオン系界面活性剤Synperonic F108を加えると、最終的な硬化したソルダーマスクの鉛筆硬度を悪化させると予想された。エアロゾルに適合可能なソルダーマスクインクの探索中に、溶媒のみの配合物が探求された。予想できないことに、プロピレングリコールに由来するエーテルおよびエステル溶媒は、エアロゾルによる吐出に適合可能なソルダーマスクインクに優れた性能を与えることがわかった。図2は、プロピレングリコールモノメチルエーテルアセテート(PGMEA)とジプロピレングリコールモノメチルエーテルアセテート(DPGMEA)の溶媒混合物の量(PGMEAおよびDPGMEAは、比率が1:1である)の関数として、新規白色ソルダーマスクインクの粘度(25℃で)およびずり減粘指数を示す。この溶媒混合物は、粘度を非常に効果的に下げた。25重量%の溶媒で、粘度は、それぞれ剪断速度484 1/sおよび10 1/sで179cPおよび214cPと顕著に下がり、コントロール例Bより顕著に低かった。もっと重要なことに、ずり減粘指数は、市販のソルダーマスクが4.68であるのに対し、1.1〜1.2まで顕著に下がった。このことは、低剪断速度での粘度をすばやく下げるのに役立った。
作業実施例1の配合物を、約50℃で、空気圧アトマイザを備えるエアロゾルプリンタを用いて印刷した。噴霧ガスは、1,000〜1,300立方センチメートル毎分(SCCM)に設定され、排気ガスは、900〜1,200SCCMであり、シースガスは、200〜600SCCMであった。このような印刷条件で、バーチャルインパクタを用いて改良された霧を発生させるプローブを介してエアロゾルを作成した。次いで、この霧の流れを窒素ガスの流れを用いて集束させた。このインクを、PET基材および銅クラッドFR−4基材(PCBに典型的な基材)の両方に印刷した。図4は、5.0mm/s〜20mm/sの異なる速度で印刷されたソルダーマスクの線を示す。十分に輪郭が定まった縁部を有する均一な線が観察された。印刷した線は、上に観察されたように、優れた接着性、耐引っ掻き性および耐化学薬品性を示した。

- エアロゾルジェット印刷のためのソルダーマスクインクであって、
(i)樹脂またはUV硬化性モノマーと;
(ii)無機顔料と;
(iii)インクの合計重量の20〜50重量%のプロピレングリコールに由来するエーテルまたはプロピレングリコールに由来するエステル系の溶媒とを含み、
前記溶媒は、プロピレングリコールモノメチルエーテルアセテートとジプロピレングリコールモノメチルエーテルアセテートの1:1重量比の組み合わせであり、前記ソルダーマスクインクの配合物は、25℃、剪断速度10 1/sでの粘度が50cP〜800cPであり、484 1/sの高速で測定された粘度に対する、10 1/sの低速で測定された粘度の比率である、ずり減粘指数が1.0〜1.5である、アルカリ現像性ではない、ソルダーマスクインク。 - 無機顔料は、金属酸化物、金属硫酸塩、金属硫化物、金属ホウ酸塩、アズライト、オー

前記ソルダーマスクインクは、アルカリ現像性ではなく、
(i)樹脂またはUV硬化性モノマーと;
(ii)無機顔料と;
(iii)ソルダーマスクインクの全量に対して20〜50重量%のプロピレングリコールに由来するエーテルまたはプロピレングリコールに由来するエステル系の溶媒とを含み、前記溶媒は、プロピレングリコールモノメチルエーテルアセテートとジプロピレングリコールモノメチルエーテルアセテートの1:1重量比の組み合わせであり、
前記ソルダーマスクインクは、25℃、剪断速度10 1/sでの粘度が50cP〜800cPであり、484 1/sの高速で測定された粘度に対する、10 1/sの低速で測定された粘度の比率である、ずり減粘指数が1〜1.5である、方法。 - 前記硬化は、熱硬化又はUV硬化である、請求項7に記載の方法。
- 前記無機顔料は、二酸化チタンを含む、請求項7に記載の方法。
- ソルダーマスクインクの硬化したコーティングが4−4Bの引掻耐性、及び5−6Hの鉛筆硬度を有する、請求項7に記載の方法。
