Description
最初に、液晶表示装置において生じる動画ぼけの原理について説明する。
そこで、このような液晶表示装置における二重写りを抑制するために(すなわち、スキャン効果を得るために)点灯デューティ比を低下させ、信号電圧の書き換え時には、対応するバックライトを消灯させる構成が考えられる。
実施の形態1に係るバックライト駆動回路は、液晶パネルを照明するための複数のバックライトを、所定の範囲のなかから指定される1つの目標輝度で発光させるバックライト駆動回路であり、例えばテレビジョン受信機などで用いられる液晶表示装置に搭載される。
以下、実施の形態1に係るバックライト駆動回路の構成について説明する。
図1は、実施の形態1に係るバックライト駆動回路600が搭載される液晶表示装置200の構成を示すブロック図である。
次に、バックライト駆動回路600の詳細な構成について説明する。
次に、本実施の形態における液晶表示装置200の動作について、図面を用いて説明する。
バックライト駆動回路600が、各バックライト211に供給する駆動電流の振幅及びデューティ比の具体例について説明する。
次に、実施の形態1の変形例に係るバックライト駆動回路について説明する。
次に、実施の形態2に係るバックライト駆動回路について説明する。
上述の実施の形態1及び実施の形態2に係るバックライト駆動回路では、駆動電流の振幅が、第1領域において第1振幅に固定されたが、目標輝度に対する駆動電流の振幅特性は、このような例には限られない。

Claims (10)
- 表示部と、
光源と、
前記光源の輝度に応じたデューティ比特性及び振幅特性に従って前記光源の駆動信号を出力する光源駆動部と、を備え、
前記振幅特性は、前記光源の所定輝度を基準として、前記所定輝度以下の第1領域と、前記所定輝度よりも高い第2領域とに分けられ、前記第1領域において前記光源の輝度に対する前記駆動信号の振幅の変化率は所定変化率以下であり、前記第2領域において前記第1領域の振幅特性と異なる振幅特性を有し、
前記振幅特性は、前記第1領域において前記光源の輝度によらず一定かまたは前記光源の輝度が高いほど小さい振幅を表し、前記第2領域において前記光源の輝度が高いほど小さい振幅を表す、
表示装置。 - 前記振幅特性の前記第1領域は、直線又は曲線で示される、
請求項1に記載の表示装置。 - 前記振幅特性の前記第2領域において前記光源の輝度に対する前記駆動信号の振幅の変化率は前記所定変化率よりも大きくなる、
請求項1または2に記載の表示装置。 - 前記振幅特性の前記第2領域は、直線又は曲線で示される、
請求項1から3の何れか1項に記載の表示装置。 - 前記第1領域の輝度の範囲は、前記第2領域の輝度の範囲と等しいか又はより大きい、

請求項1から5の何れか1項に記載の表示装置。 - 前記デューティ比特性は、前記所定輝度を基準として、前記所定輝度以下の第3領域と、前記所定輝度よりも高い第4領域とに分けられ、前記第3領域における前記光源の輝度に対する前記駆動信号のデューティ比の変化率は、前記第4領域における前記光源の輝度に対する前記駆動信号のデューティ比の変化率よりも小さい、
請求項1から6の何れか1項に記載の表示装置。 - 前記所定輝度における前記駆動信号のデューティ比は、前記表示部の応答速度に基づいて設定されている、
請求項1から7の何れか1項に記載の表示装置。 - 前記所定輝度における前記駆動信号の前記デューティ比は、前記表示部に書き込まれる所定透過率を示す信号電圧の期間のうち、前記表示部が実際に前記所定透過率になっている期間の割合と等しい、
