Description
1.技術分野
本発明は概ね細長い部材を保護するための保護的な繊維スリーブに関し、より具体的には、外側ホイル層を有するラップ可能な繊維スリーブに関する。
さまざまな外的環境条件から細長い部材を保護するために、編組、編成あるいは織られた繊維構造を含む繊維スリーブを活用することが知られている。ラップ可能な壁を有するスリーブを形成することがさらに知られている。ラップ可能な壁とともに、対向する縦方向に延びる壁の縁部を保護し、重なり合う関係に維持するために閉鎖テープを活用することもさらに知られている。いくつかの適用例では、例えば高熱などの熱環境条件に対抗するスリーブ内の細長い部材を有するのが望ましい。これらの適用例では、繊維スリーブに外側反射層を提供し、さらには、反射性外側ホイル層を有する閉鎖テープを提供することが知られている。典型的にはスリーブのホイル層と閉鎖テープは繊維スリーブ壁の外側表面およびスリーブ壁のホイル層の外側表面にそれぞれ取付ける。
本発明の一態様によれば、ラップ可能な繊維スリーブが提供される。スリーブは対向する端部の間の長手方向軸に沿って延びる縦方向に延びる縁部のある対向する端部の間の長手方向軸に沿って延びる細長い壁を含む。壁は繊維層、内側繊維層に固定されたポリマーフィルム層及びポリマーフィルム層に固定された金属ホイル層を含む。ポリマーフィルム層は第1の厚さを有し、金属ホイル層は第2の厚さを有し、第2の厚さは第1の厚さよりも大きい。
本発明の別の態様によれば、ポリマーフィルムは防縮加工済であるポリマーフィルムである。
本発明の別の態様によれば、ポリマーフィルム層と金属ホイル層とは接着剤によって一体的に固着されている。
本発明の別の態様によれば、繊維層は織られている。

図面をより詳細に参照すると、図1は細長い部材12(たとえば可撓性のワイヤーハーネスまたは他の可撓性部材)を保護するためにその周辺でラップされる本発明の1態様にしたがって構築されたラップ可能な繊維スリーブ10を示す。スリーブ10は対向する端部18、20の間で長手方向軸16に沿って縦に延びる縁部22、24を備えた対向する端部18、20の間で長手方向軸16に沿って延びる細長い壁14を有する。壁14は、内側繊維層26、アルミニウムの金属層のような外側反射性層28および内側および外側層26、28の間に挟まれる中間ポリマーフィルム層30を含む。フィルム層30は第1の厚さを有し繊維層26に固定され、金属ホイル層28は第2の厚さを有しポリマーフィルム層30に固定される。ホイル層28の第2の厚さはフィルム層30の第1の厚さよりも大きく、これは特に屈曲に沿ったりコーナー周辺を通る際に、スリーブ10の最適な効能を発揮することが発見されている。フィルム層30の厚さをホイル層28の厚さよりも薄くすることにより、壁14は比較的滑らかな円弧を保持し、ねじれることなく、さらにホイル層28のクラッキングを抑止し、そのようにして、スリーブ10の効能と耐用年数が向上する。この現象の1つの理論は、例として限定なく、エンジン室内あるいは廃棄システム内で遭遇するような高温の場合に特に、フィルム層30の硬化やホイル層のねじれやひび割れを低減するという貢献をする。
Claims (17)
- ラップ可能な繊維スリーブであって、
対向する端部の間で長手方向軸に沿って延び、前記対向する端部の間で前記長手方向軸に沿って縦に延びる縁部を有する細長い壁を備え、
前記壁は繊維層、前記繊維層に固定されるポリマーフィルム層、および前記ポリマーフィルム層に固定される金属ホイル層を含み、
前記ポリマーフィルム層が第1の厚さを有し、前記金属ホイル層は第2の厚さを有し、前記第2の厚さは前記第1の厚さよりも大きく、
前記繊維層は織られている、ラップ可能な繊維スリーブ。 - 前記第1の厚さは0.0001インチから0.0004インチの間にあり、前記第2の厚さは0.00035インチから0.0010インチの間にある、請求項1に記載のラップ可能な繊維スリーブ。
- 前記第1の厚さは0.0002インチから0.0003インチの間にあり、前記第2の厚さは0.0005インチから0.0009インチの間にある、請求項2に記載のラップ可能な繊維スリーブ。
- 前記金属ホイル層は軟アルミニウムである、請求項1に記載のラップ可能な繊維スリーブ。
- 前記ポリマーフィルムは防縮加工済である、請求項1に記載のラップ可能な繊維スリーブ。
- 前記ポリマーフィルムはポリエチレンテレフタレートである、請求項5に記載のラップ可能な繊維スリーブ。
- 前記ポリマーフィルム層および前記金属ホイル層は接着剤によりともに固着されている、請求項1に記載のラップ可能な繊維スリーブ。
- 前記ポリマーフィルム層および前記繊維層は接着剤により固着されている、請求項7に記載のラップ可能な繊維スリーブ。
- 前記繊維層は交絡フィラメントを有する、請求項1に記載のラップ可能な繊維スリーブ。
- 前記繊維層は、周方向に延びる横糸で形成された複数の個別の周方向に延びる環状の帯域を有し、隣接する帯域は互いに異なる直径の横糸を有する、請求項1に記載のラップ可能な繊維スリーブ。
- 前記第1の厚さは0.0001インチから0.0003インチの間にあり、前記第2の厚さは0.00035インチから0.0010インチの間にある、請求項1に記載のラップ可能な繊維スリーブ。
- 閉鎖テープをさらに含み、前記閉鎖テープは互いに固着された織られたスクリムおよび金属ホイル層を有し、前記織られたスクリムは前記閉鎖テープの前記金属ホイル層と面しない側面を有し、その上に前記壁の前記金属ホイル層との接着のための接着剤が付される、請求項1に記載のラップ可能な繊維スリーブ。

第2の厚さを有する金属ホイル層を提供するステップと、
前記ポリマーフィルム層を前記繊維層へ固着するステップと、
前記金属ホイル層を前記ポリマーフィルム層へ固着するステップと、
前記金属ホイル層の前記第2の厚さを前記ポリマーフィルム層の前記第1の厚さよりも大きく提供するステップと、
前記繊維層を織られた層として提供するステップとを備えた、方法。 - 前記第1の厚さを0.0001インチから0.0004インチの間に、前記第2の厚さを0.00035インチから0.0010インチの間を提供するステップをさらに含む、請求項13に記載の方法。
