Claims (17)
- 第1基板と、
前記第1基板の外面に位置する第1偏光板と、
前記第1基板の内面に設けられる第1電極と、
前記第1電極の上部に設けられ、負の誘電率異方性を有するネガティブ型ネマティック液晶分子で満たされたナノサイズのカプセルがバッファー層に分散しているナノカプセル液晶層と、
前記ナノカプセル液晶層の上部に設けられる第2電極と、
前記第2電極の上部に設けられ、λ/4の位相遅延値を有する位相遅延フィルムと、
前記位相遅延フィルムの上部に設けられる第2偏光板と
を備え、
前記ナノカプセル液晶層は、前記第1電極及び前記第2電極に印加される電圧差に比例するピクセル電圧によって光学的異方性を有し、電圧が印加されていない際には光学的等方性を有する液晶表示装置。 - 前記ナノサイズのカプセルの直径は、1nm〜320nmである、請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記ナノサイズのカプセルは、前記ナノカプセル液晶層の25体積%〜65体積%である、請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記ネガティブ型ネマティック液晶分子と前記ナノサイズのカプセルの屈折率差は、±0.1以内である、請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1基板と対向し、前記ナノカプセル液晶層を介して設けられた第2基板を含み、
前記第1基板上に薄膜トランジスタが設けられ、前記第2基板上にカラーフィルターが設けられる、請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1基板と対向し、前記ナノカプセル液晶層を介して設けられた第2基板を含み、
前記第1基板上に薄膜トランジスタが設けられ、前記薄膜トランジスタの上部にカラーフィルターが設けられる、請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 第1電極と、前記第1電極の上部に設けられ、負の誘電率異方性を有するネガティブ型ネマティック液晶分子で満たされたナノサイズのカプセルがバッファー層に分散しているナノカプセル液晶層と、前記ナノカプセル液晶層の上部に設けられる第2電極とを備える液晶パネルと、
外部光が入射する前記液晶パネルの上部に位置する偏光板と、
前記偏光板と前記液晶パネルとの間に位置する位相差板と、
前記ナノカプセル液晶層を通過した光を反射させる反射板と
を備え、
前記ナノカプセル液晶層は、前記第1電極及び前記第2電極に印加される電圧差に比例するピクセル電圧によって光学的異方性を有し、電圧が印加されていない際には光学的等方性を有する反射型液晶表示装置。 - 前記位相差板は、屈折率nx、ny、nzがnx=ny>nzを満たす四分の一波長板(quarter wave plate:1 /4λ波長板)からなる、請求項7に記載の反射型液晶表示装置。
- 前記ナノサイズのカプセルの直径は、1nm〜320nmである、請求項7に記載の反射型液晶表示装置。
- 前記ナノサイズのカプセルは、前記ナノカプセル液晶層の25体積%〜65体積%である、請求項7に記載の反射型液晶表示装置。
- 前記ナノカプセル液晶層の厚さは、2μm〜5μmである、請求項7に記載の反射型液晶表示装置。
- 前記ネガティブ型ネマティック液晶分子と前記ナノサイズのカプセルの屈折率差は、±0.1以内である、請求項7に記載の反射型液晶表示装置。
- 前記液晶パネルは前記第1電極が設けられる第1基板を含み、前記第1基板上には薄膜トランジスタが位置する、請求項7に記載の反射型液晶表示装置。
- 前記第2電極は前記位相差板若しくは前記偏光板上に設けられる、請求項13に記載の反射型液晶表示装置。
- 前記液晶パネルは前記第1基板と対向し、前記ナノカプセル液晶層を介して設けられた第2基板を含み、前記第2電極は前記第2基板上に位置する、請求項13に記載の反射型液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1基板上または前記第2基板上にカラーフィルターが位置する、請求項15に記載の反射型液晶表示装置。
- 前記反射板は、前記第1基板上に反射電極として位置する、請求項13に記載の反射型液晶表示装置。
