Description

・下記を含む紙、板紙、薄葉紙、およびパルプ製造:製造プロセス改善、微小粒子歩留まりおよび脱水、コーティングおよび表面処理、機能性添加剤
・下記を含む冷却水処理:炭酸カルシウム抑制剤、リン酸カルシウム抑制剤、リン酸亜鉛安定剤、鉄および/またはシルト分散剤、生物分散剤(Biodispersant)、シリカスケール抑制剤、他の種のためのスケール抑制剤(例えば、フッ化カルシウム、硫酸カルシウム、など)、腐食およびスケール二重抑制剤
・下記を含む油井処理流体およびそれらの適用:掘削流体および作業、セメントおよびセメンチング作業、仕上げ流体および作業、刺激流体(酸性化および破砕)および作業、水適合性化学および適用、また石油増進回収(EOR)化学および作業

・下記を含む医療用途:クリーニング/処理加工中での金属機器の腐食の阻止
・下記を含む採掘および選鉱:鉱物基材の採掘または輸送、任意の鉱物選鉱プロセスまたは関連する廃棄物処理プロセスにおいて適用されるプロセス添加剤。採掘および選鉱は、限定はされないが、下記を含む:アルミナ、石炭、銅、貴金属ならびに砂および砂利。含められる用途としては、限定はされないが、下記が挙げられる:固体液体分離、浮選、スケール制御、防塵、金属除去および結晶成長調整剤
・下記を含むシリカ材料およびプロセス適用:強度改善のためのバインダ、スリップおよび焼き流し鋳造、触媒産業(テンプレート)、耐火物、剥離および研磨、消泡剤、印刷(インクジェット/オフセット)、濾水助剤。

多くのNCC−ポリマをグローイング−フロム(growing-from)アプローチに従い製造した。4口の1.5L反応器に、a)金属シャフトおよび円錐スターラーに連結されたオーバーヘッドメカニカルスターラー、b)窒素入口およびスパージ管、c)還流冷却器が取り付けられたクライゼンアダプター、d)テフロン(登録商標)コネクタを介して挿入される温度プローブ(RTD)を取り付け、温度をアテナ(Athena)により制御した。反応器に562.5mLのpH調整したNCC(1.14×10−6mol、2.81g、pH=2)分散物を添加し、N2で30分間パージし、その後、硝酸セリウムアンモニウム(CAN、1.12×10−3mol、6.17g)を、NCC骨格と15分間、N2下、室温(R.T.)にて反応させた。反応器を70℃に設定し、その後、52.41gのアクリルアミド(7.38×10−1mol)、17.08gのアクリル酸(3.16×10−1mol)および水(84.67g)を反応器に42℃で添加した。反応混合物を、70℃まで加熱し、70℃で6時間維持した。45分で、160ppmの次亜リン酸ナトリウムを添加した。反応を、反応アリコート(500−1000ppmのヒドロキノンで反応停止させた)のHNMR分析によりモニタし、6時間で92%変換に到達した(表2)。後修飾(Post modification)を過硫酸カリウム(KPS、500μmol)およびメタ重亜硫酸ナトリウム(SBS、3500μmol)を用いて実施し、残留モノマを使い尽くした。窒素スパージを反応を通して維持した。ポリマの最終pHをNaOHを用いて3.5に調整し、適用試験に供した。全てのサンプルを残留アクリルアミドおよびアクリル酸分析に供した。結果を、表1に示す。
実験は、従来のポリアクリルアミド系乾燥強度剤N−1044と比較して、NCCおよびNCC−ポリマの、シート乾燥強度を増加させる能力を対比した。この実施例で使用されるNCC−ポリマは、表1で列挙される6653−145である。完成紙料は60%の広葉樹および20%の針葉樹およびフィラーとして、20%の沈降炭酸カルシウム(PCC)を含んでいた。18lb/トンのカチオン性デンプンスタロック(Stalok)310を従来の乾燥強度剤として添加し、様々な投与量のNCC、NCC−ポリマおよびN−1044をカチオン性デンプン後に添加した。1lb/トンのN−61067を歩留向上剤として添加した。処理した完成紙料を使用して、ノーブル&ウッド(Noble & Wood)ハンドシートモールドを用いてハンドシートを製造した。紙を静的プレス(static press)を使用してプレスし、これを1回、約105℃のドラム乾燥機に通すことにより乾燥させた。得られたハンドシートを23℃および50%相対湿度で少なくとも12時間平衡化させ、その後、試験した。各条件に対し5つの2組のハンドシートを製造し平均値を記録した。
NCCおよびNCC−ポリマの、紙の表面強度を増加させる能力を測定するために、実験室内実験を実施した。16%の灰分を含み、サイズプレスを通過させていない原紙を、ドローダウン(drawdown)方法を使用して、所望の化学物質を含む溶液を用いてコートした。コーティング前後の紙の質量を使用して、特定の化学物質投与量を決定した。紙を、1回、約95℃のドラム乾燥機に通すことにより乾燥させ、23℃および50%相対湿度で少なくとも12時間平衡化させ、その後、試験した。

Claims (9)
- 製紙プロセスにおいて使用される紙基材を改善する方法であって、
NCC−ポリマを提供する工程および
前記NCC−ポリマを紙基材に、製紙プロセスのウェットエンドで添加する工程
を含み、
前記NCC−ポリマは、実質的に、前記紙基材全体に分配され、NCCコアに結合されたポリマ鎖を含み、前記ポリマ鎖は、下記からなるリストより選択される1つ以上のモノマから構成される、方法:酢酸ビニル、アクリル酸、アクリル酸ナトリウム、アクリル酸アンモニウム、アクリル酸メチル、アクリルアミド、アクリロニトリル、N,N−ジメチルアクリルアミド、2−アクリルアミド−2−メチルプロパン−1−スルホン酸、2−アクリルアミド−2−メチルプロパン−1−スルホン酸ナトリウム、3−アクリルアミドプロピル−トリメチル−アンモニウムクロリド、ジアリルジメチルアンモニウムクロリド、2−(ジメチルアミノ)エチルアクリレート、2−(アクリロイルオキシ)−N,N,N−トリメチルエタンアミニウムクロリド、N,N−ジメチルアミノエチルアクリレートベンジルクロリド第四級塩、2−(アクリロイルオキシ)−N,N,N−トリメチルエタンアミニウムメチルスルフェート、2−(ジメチルアミノ)エチルメタクリレート、2−(メタクリロイルオキシ)−N,N,N−トリメチルエタンアミニウムクロリド、3−(ジメチルアミノ)プロピルメタクリルアミド、2−(メタクリロイルオキシ)−N,N,N−トリメチルエタンアミニウムメチルスルフェート、メタクリル酸、無水メタクリル酸、メチルメタクリレート、メタクリロイルオキシエチルトリメチルアンモニウムクロリド、3−メタクリルアミドプロピル−トリメチル−アンモニウムクロリド、ヘキサデシルメタクリレート、オクタデシルメタクリレート、ドコシルアクリレート、n−ビニルピロリドン、2−ビニルピリジン、4−ビニルピリジン、エピクロロヒドリン、n−ビニルホルムアミド、n−ビニルアセトアミド、2−ヒドロキシエチルアクリレート、グリシジルメタクリレート、3−(アリルオキシ)−2−ヒドロキシプロパン−1−スルホネート、2−(アリルオキシ)エタノール、エチレンオキシド、プロピレンオキシド、2,3−エポキシプロピルトリメチルアンモニウムクロリド、(3−グリシドキシプロピル)トリメトキシシラン、エピクロロヒドリン−ジメチルアミン、ビニルスルホン酸ナトリウム塩、4−スチレンスルホン酸ナトリウム、カプロラクタムおよびそれらの任意の組み合わせ。 - 前記NCC−ポリマは、少なくとも一部がポリマ鎖により連結された少なくとも2つのNCCコアを有するグラフトポリマである、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記NCC−ポリマは、NCCコアから延びる第1のポリマ鎖および前記第1のポリマ鎖から逸れていく少なくとも1つの分枝を有する分枝ポリマである、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 少なくとも1つの分枝は、前記第1のポリマ鎖とは異なるモノマの選択から構成され、前記異なる選択は、モノマ種、モノマ比、または両方が異なる、請求項3に記載の方法。
- 前記NCC−ポリマは、前記紙基材の湿潤強度を増加させる、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記NCC−ポリマは、液体媒質の前記紙基材からの濾水中の固体の歩留まりを増加させる、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記NCC−ポリマは前記紙基材の乾燥強度を増加させる、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記NCC−ポリマは、前記紙基材の湿紙強度を増加させる、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 製紙プロセスにおいて使用される紙基材を改善する方法であって、
ポリマと混合されたNCCを含むブレンドを提供する工程、および
前記ブレンドおよびデンプンを紙基材に、製紙プロセスのウェットエンドにおいて添加する工程
を含み、
前記ブレンドは、実質的に、前記紙基材全体に分配され、前記ポリマは、下記からなるリストより選択される1つ以上のモノマから構成される、方法:酢酸ビニル、アクリル酸、アクリル酸ナトリウム、アクリル酸アンモニウム、アクリル酸メチル、アクリルアミド、アクリロニトリル、N,N−ジメチルアクリルアミド、2−アクリルアミド−2−メチルプロパン−1−スルホン酸、2−アクリルアミド−2−メチルプロパン−1−スルホン酸ナトリウム、3−アクリルアミドプロピル−トリメチル−アンモニウムクロリド、ジアリルジメチルアンモニウムクロリド、2−(ジメチルアミノ)エチルアクリレート、2−(アクリロイルオキシ)−N,N,N−トリメチルエタンアミニウムクロリド、N,N−ジメチルアミノエチルアクリレートベンジルクロリド第四級塩、2−(アクリロイルオキシ)−N,N,N−トリメチルエタンアミニウムメチルスルフェート、2−(ジメチルアミノ)エチルメタクリレート、2−(メタクリロイルオキシ)−N,N,N−トリメチルエタンアミニウムクロリド、3−(ジメチルアミノ)プロピルメタクリルアミド、2−(メタクリロイルオキシ)−N,N,N−トリメチルエタンアミニウムメチルスルフェート、メタクリル酸、無水メタクリル酸、メチルメタクリレート、メタクリロイルオキシエチルトリメチルアンモニウムクロリド、3−メタクリルアミドプロピル−トリメチル−アンモニウムクロリド、ヘキサデシルメタクリレート、オクタデシルメタクリレート、ドコシルアクリレート、n−ビニルピロリドン、2−ビニルピリジン、4−ビニルピリジン、エピクロロヒドリン、n−ビニルホルムアミド、n−ビニルアセトアミド、2−ヒドロキシエチルアクリレート、グリシジルメタクリレート、3−(アリルオキシ)−2−ヒドロキシプロパン−1−スルホネート、2−(アリルオキシ)エタノール、エチレンオキシド、プロピレンオキシド、2,3−エポキシプロピルトリメチルアンモニウムクロリド、(3−グリシドキシプロピル)トリメトキシシラン、エピクロロヒドリン−ジメチルアミン、ビニルスルホン酸ナトリウム塩、4−スチレンスルホン酸ナトリウム、カプロラクタムおよびそれらの任意の組み合わせ。
