Description
FF−5(27mPasの4%粘度(Brookfield LV 60rpm、25℃)、MW 50kD、DS 0.7)グレードCMCを4つのCMC濃度:約5、13、17、および20%CMCで用い、CMC溶液を調製した。2%Na2CO3をCMCと予めブレンドし、「実験」溶液を生成した。各溶液の粘度を測定し、その結果は図1に見ることができる。粘度測定:Brookfield RV 100rpm、50℃。粘度を測定する前に、CMCおよびCMC+塩のドライブレンドを、ワイヤミキサーを用いて90分間水と混合した。
各種濃度のアルカリ塩およびNaClを20%CMC濃度のCMC溶液に添加し、表1に示されるようなCMC溶液を生成した。基準CMC:FF−5(27mPasの4%粘度、DS 0.7)。粘度測定:Brookfield RV 100rpm、60℃。粘度を測定する前に、CMCおよびCMC+塩のドライブレンドを、ワイヤミキサーを用いて90分間水と混合した。粘度測定は溶液上で行い、その結果は表1および図2に示す。
アルカリ塩を含む、および含まない両方のCMC溶液を、以下の表2に記載される各種グレードのCMCを用いて調製した。pHおよび粘度を測定する前に、CMCおよびCMC+アルカリ塩(2%炭酸ナトリウム)のドライブレンドを、ワイヤミキサーを用い、90分間水中に混合した。
適用試験を、100pph(100分の1部)のCaCO3、10pphのSB−ラテックス、0.15pphのCMCおよび0.3pphの光学増白剤を有する標的コーティングカラー製剤で行った。コーティングカラー製剤の固体含有量は70wt%であり、pHを水酸化ナトリウムの添加により8.5に調節した。CMCを、Na2CO3(1または2%Na2CO3)を含む、および含まない両方の、予め溶解したCMC FF−5の20%溶液として添加した。コーティングされた紙のコーティングカラーのレオロジー、保水、および光学特性をこれらの試料について特徴づけ、図4〜7に示す。
CMCを含有する4つのバリア材料を生成し、KIT試験を用いて評価し、それらの耐油性を決定した。耐油性はより高いKIT試験スコアを有するそれらのバリア材料についてより良好である。
Claims (24)
- CMCおよびアルカリ塩を水中に溶解し、CMCのアルカリ溶液を得るステップ、ならびに
任意でCMCのアルカリ溶液のpHを7.5〜11のpHに調節するステップを含む、CMCストック溶液の濃度の増加方法であって、
前記CMCが0.9未満の置換度を有し、
前記CMCのアルカリ溶液がCMCを9.8重量%より大きい濃度で含み、7.5〜11のpHを有し、5,000mPa未満の100rpmおよび50℃〜60℃で測定した粘度を有し、
前記CMCのアルカリ溶液が前記アルカリ塩を0.05重量%以上5.0重量%以下の濃度で含む、方法。 - 前記CMCが300kD未満の分子量を有する、請求項1に記載の方法。

- 前記CMCのアルカリ溶液がCMCを20%より大きく25%までの濃度で含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記アルカリ塩が炭酸ナトリウム、重炭酸ナトリウム、亜硫酸ナトリウム、水酸化ナトリウム、ケイ酸ナトリウム、水酸化カリウム、炭酸カリウム、重炭酸カリウム、水酸化カルシウム、およびこれらの組み合わせからなる群より選択される、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記アルカリ塩が炭酸ナトリウムを含み、前記CMCのアルカリ溶液が前記アルカリ塩を0.1〜1.0重量%の濃度で含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記アルカリ塩が、炭酸ナトリウム、および、亜硫酸ナトリウム、重炭酸ナトリウム、またはこれらの組み合わせを含み、前記CMCのアルカリ溶液が前記亜硫酸ナトリウム、重炭酸ナトリウム、またはこれらの組み合わせを0.1〜2重量%の濃度で含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記CMCのアルカリ溶液中の炭酸ナトリウム、および、亜硫酸ナトリウム、重炭酸ナトリウム、またはこれらの組み合わせの総濃度が5重量%未満である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記CMCのアルカリ溶液が7.5〜10.5のpHを有する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記CMCのアルカリ溶液が前記アルカリ塩を含まないCMCの同様の溶液と比較して実質的に低下した粘度を有する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記アルカリ塩を含む前記CMCのアルカリ溶液の粘度が前記アルカリ塩を含まないCMCの同様な溶液の粘度の50%未満である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記アルカリ塩を含む前記CMCのアルカリ溶液の粘度が前記アルカリ塩を含まないCMCの同様の溶液の粘度の20%〜50%である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 顔料およびCMCのアルカリ溶液を含む高固体含有量紙コーティング組成物の製造方法であって、前記CMCのアルカリ溶液がCMCを9.8重量%より大きい濃度で、アルカリ塩を0.05重量%以上5.0重量%以下の濃度で含み、前記CMCが0.9未満の置換度を有する、組成物の製造方法。
- 前記CMCが300kD未満の分子量を有する、請求項20に記載の高固体含有量紙コーティング組成物の製造方法。
- CMCのアルカリ溶液を含むCMCストック溶液の製造方法であって、
前記CMCが0.9未満の置換度および300kD未満の分子量を有し、
前記CMCのアルカリ溶液が、水、CMCを9.8重量%より大きい濃度で、およびアルカリ塩を0.05重量%以上5.0重量%以下の濃度で含み、7.5〜11のpH、および5,000mPa未満の100rpmおよび50℃〜60℃で測定した粘度を有する、
溶液の製造方法。 - 前記アルカリ塩の濃度が0.1%〜2.0%であり、前記CMCの濃度が9.8%より大きく20%までである、請求項22に記載のCMCストック溶液の製造方法。
- 前記アルカリ塩の濃度が0.1%〜1.5%であり、前記CMCの濃度が12%より大きく20%までである、請求項22に記載のCMCストック溶液の製造方法。
