Description
(液晶表示装置の構成)
図1は、実施形態に係る液晶表示装置の構成を例示する斜視図である。図1に示すように、液晶表示装置は、バックライトユニットとして配置される面光源装置1と、面光源装置1から出射される光を受ける表示パネル2とを備える。表示パネル2は、ガラス板に挟まれて封入された液晶に電圧をかけて光の透過率を増減等させることで、像を表示する。以下、面光源装置1における、表示パネル2側を上面側として、その反対面側を下面側として説明することがある。
図2は、実施形態に係る面光源装置1の構成を例示する斜視図である。実施形態に係る面光源装置1は、導光板10、光源11、フレキシブルプリント基板(以下、「FPC」とも表記する)12、固定部材13及びフレーム14を備える。また、面光源装置1は、導光板10の下面側に配置される反射シート15、導光板10の上面側に順に積層される拡散シート16、プリズムシート17及び遮光両面テープ18を備える。
光板本体の高さよりも高い光導入部とを備えてもよい。光源11から出射された光が、光導入部から導光板本体内に効率よく入射し、導光板10の光利用効率が向上する。導光板本体が光導入部よりも薄いことで、面光源装置1の薄型化が向上し、面光源装置1を備える液晶表示装置の薄型化が向上する。ただし、実施形態に係る導光板10は、光導入部を有しない平板形状であってもよい。
フレーム14の一部又は全部が樹脂フレームである。樹脂フレームは、樹脂フレームのベース材料であるポリカーボネート樹脂と、光を反射し拡散する反射拡散材料と、光を吸収する吸収材料と、を有する。反射拡散材料及び吸収材料は、ポリカーボネート樹脂に添加されている。したがって、樹脂フレームに反射拡散材料及び吸収材料が添加されている
。樹脂フレームのベース材料として、ポリカーボネート樹脂以外の他の樹脂を用いてもよい。反射拡散材料は、例えば、酸化チタン等の白色顔料である。吸収材料は、例えば、カーボン等の黒色顔料である。ポリカーボネート樹脂、反射拡散材料及び吸収材料を含むペレットを、射出成形により所望の形状にすることにより、樹脂フレームを製造してもよい。
図4及び図5に、実施形態の実施例1〜6及び比較例1、2の遮光性の評価結果と、実施形態の実施例1〜6及び比較例1、2の光学特性の評価結果とを示す。実施例1〜6では、反射拡散材料及び吸収材料が添加された樹脂が用いられている。比較例1では、吸収材料が添加され、反射拡散材料が添加されていない樹脂が用いられている。比較例2では、反射拡散材料が添加され、吸収材料が添加されていない樹脂が用いられている。遮光性の評価方法として、実施例1〜6及び比較例1、2における各樹脂を一定の厚みの板状成形品に加工し、板状成形品にLEDライトを当てることにより遮光性を確認した。光学特性の評価方法として、実施例1〜6及び比較例1、2における各樹脂をバックライトユニ
ット(面光源装置)の樹脂フレームとして用いて光学特性を測定した。

Claims (7)
- 導光板の側面の少なくとも一部を囲む樹脂フレームと、
前記樹脂フレームに添加されており、光を反射し拡散する反射拡散材料と、
前記樹脂フレームに添加されており、光を吸収する吸収材料と、
を備え、
前記樹脂フレームの反射率が30%以上80%以下であるフレーム。 - 前記樹脂フレームの反射率が45%以上65%以下である請求項1に記載のフレーム。
- 前記反射拡散材料が白色顔料であり、
前記吸収材料が黒色顔料である請求項1又は2に記載のフレーム。 - 前記反射拡散材料が酸化チタンであり、
前記吸収材料がカーボンである請求項1から3の何れか一項に記載のフレーム。 - 請求項1から4の何れか一項に記載のフレームと、
前記フレームに収容された前記導光板と、
前記フレームに収容され、前記導光板の側面から光を入射する光源と、
