Description
前記金属部材及び前記樹脂部材の他方側の端面には前記凸部が挿入される凹部が形成されている請求項6記載のゴルフクラブヘッドである。
図1は本実施形態のゴルフクラブヘッド(以下、単に「ヘッド」ということがある。)1の斜視図、図2はその平面図、図3は図2のA−A拡大断面図、図4はクラブヘッド1の分解斜視図をそれぞれ示している。
この実施形態では、クラウン縁部10の端面10Eの斜面、及び、クラウン部材1Bの端面の斜面が、図7とは逆向きで形成されている。また、この実施形態ではクラウン部材1Bが、非透過性の樹脂部材からなる。この実施形態の場合、ヘッド外面側から、レーザービームLBが、ヘッド本体1Aのクラウン縁部10の外面かつ内周縁側に照射され、クラウン部材1Bが加熱される。
この実施形態では、ヘッド本体1Aの端面10Eと、クラウン部材1Bの端面1BEとが、いわゆる単純突合せの突合せ継手J2で接合されている。即ち、各端面10E、1BEは、いずれもヘッド外面に対してほぼ90°の角度を持った平面からなる。この実施形態では、図7及び図8の実施形態に比べて、継手Jに占める金属材料の質量をほぼ零にすることができるので、継手を含む部分のさらなる軽量化が可能となる。また、この実施形態では、例えば、レーザービームLBが、樹脂部材の側から端面10Eに斜めに照射される。なお、端面10E、1BEを相互にかみ合うステップ状として、相じゃくりの突合せ継手とされても良い。
図10(a)及び(b)では、そぎ継ぎをベースとしているが、ヘッド本体1A及びクラウン部材1Bの一方側の端面10E又は1BEには、ヘッド本体1A及びクラウン部材1Bの他方側の端面10E又は1BEに向かって突出する凸部20が形成されている。また、ヘッド本体1A及びクラウン部材1Bの他方側の端面10E又は1BEには、凸部20が挿入される凹部21が形成されている。このような凹凸を有する突合せ接合J2では、より一層接合強度が向上し、位置合わせも正確に行える。凸部20は、開口部Oに沿って連続するものでも良いし、ピンのように、連続しないものでも良い。
実施例1は、図1乃至3に示した基本構成を有するゴルフクラブヘッドである。ヘッド本体は、チタン合金からなり、クラウン部材は、炭素繊維強化樹脂の成形品からなる。クラウン部材は、ヘッド本体のクラウン縁部の受け部に載置されレーザー溶接されたものである。これにより、ヘッド本体とクラウン部材とが、重ね継手で接合された。
実施例2は、図6及び図7に示した基本構成を有するゴルフクラブヘッドである。実施例2は、実施例1と、接合部の継手の形状のみ異なっている。また、クラウン部材の質量は、実施例1と同一となるように形状が整えられた。クラウン部材は、ヘッド本体のクラウン縁部の端面に載置され、レーザー溶接された。つまり、実施例2は、ヘッド本体とクラウン部材とが、そぎ継ぎの突合せ継手で接合されている。
実施例3は、図9に示した継手を有するゴルフクラブヘッドである。実施例3は、実施例1と、接合部の継手の形状のみ異なっている。また、クラウン部材の質量は、実施例1と同一となるように形状が整えられた。クラウン部材は、ヘッド本体のクラウン縁部の端面に嵌め込まれて仮固定され、レーザー溶接された。つまり、実施例3は、ヘッド本体とクラウン部材とが、単純継ぎの突合せ継手で接合されている。
実施例3のクラウン部材がチタン合金からなるゴルフクラブヘッドである。ヘッドの質量は192.7gであった。
比較例2は、実施例1と同一のヘッド本体とクラウン部材とを用い、両者が接着剤で固着されたものである。ただし、比較例2のヘッド本体は、受け部の幅が実施例1よりも大きく、受け部の質量も、実施例1よりも1.6g大きく形成されている。これは、接着剤による接合部のせん断強度は溶接に比して小さいため、受け部の幅を大きくする必要があるためである。
実施例及び比較例の各ヘッドについて、ヘッド重心を通る垂直軸周りの慣性モーメントがコンピュータを用いて計算された。なお、比較例2は、比較例1に比べて、クラウン部において5.2gの軽量化が可能となり、この質量に相当する錘部材が、サイド部のヘッドの最も後方位置に固着されている。実施例1の受け部は、比較例に比べて、さらに1.6gの軽量化が可能になった。従って、合計6.8gの錘部材が固着されている。実施例2及び実施例3は、受け部が無くなったため、比較例2との比較で5.4gの軽量化が可能になり、合計10.6gの錘部材が固着されている。実施例及び比較例において、各クラウン部の接合部のイメージ図が図11に示されている。また、テストの結果等が表1に示される。

Claims (9)
- 金属材料で形成された金属部材と、樹脂で形成された樹脂部材とが接合された中空構造のゴルフクラブヘッドを製造する方法であって、
ヘッド上面を形成するクラウン部に開口部が形成された前記金属部材を成形する工程と、
前記開口部を閉じるための前記樹脂部材を成形する工程と、
前記金属部材の前記開口部の周りを形成するクラウン縁部に、前記樹脂部材を仮置きする工程と、
前記金属部材と前記樹脂部材とを溶接する工程とを含み、
前記仮置きする工程は、前記金属部材のソール側を上にした逆さま状態として、前記樹脂部材を、前記クラウン縁部の中空部側に向かって前記開口部を広げる向きに傾斜する端面に仮置きし、
前記溶接する工程は、
前記金属部材の前記クラウン縁部にレーザービームを照射して前記金属部材を加熱する工程と、
加熱された前記金属部材の熱で、前記樹脂部材を溶融させる工程と、
溶融した前記樹脂部材を冷却、固化させることで、前記金属部材と前記樹脂部材とを接合する工程とを含むことを特徴とするゴルフクラブヘッドの製造方法。
- 仮置きする工程は、前記金属部材の端面と前記樹脂部材の端面とを接触させた突き合わせ継手で接合されるよう突き合わされている請求項1記載のゴルフクラブヘッドの製造方法。
- 前記樹脂部材は、熱可塑性樹脂からなる請求項1又は2記載のゴルフクラブヘッドの製造方法。
- 前記樹脂部材は、繊維で補強されている請求項1乃至3のいずれかに記載のゴルフクラブヘッドの製造方法。
- 前記金属部材及び前記樹脂部材の一方側の端面には、前記金属部材及び前記樹脂部材の他方側の端面に向かって突出する凸部が形成され、
前記金属部材及び前記樹脂部材の他方側の端面には、前記凸部が挿入される凹部が形成されている請求項1乃至4のいずれかに記載のゴルフクラブヘッドの製造方法。 - 前記突き合わせ継手は、そぎ継ぎ又はフックドスカーフジョイントを含む請求項2記載のゴルフクラブヘッドの製造方法。
- 前記加熱する工程は、前記金属部材に前記樹脂部材を透過した前記レーザービームを照射する請求項1乃至6のいずれかに記載のゴルフクラブヘッドの製造方法。
- 前記加熱する工程は、前記金属部材に前記金属部材側から前記レーザービームを照射する請求項1乃至6のいずれかに記載のゴルフクラブヘッドの製造方法。
- 前記溶融させる工程は、前記樹脂部材をその樹脂の分解温度以上に加熱して内部に気泡を生じさせる請求項1乃至7のいずれかに記載のゴルフクラブヘッドの製造方法。
