Description
熱硬化性樹脂組成物および繊維を含むプレプレグを用意する工程と、
プレプレグを減圧下に置く工程と、
プレプレグ中の全重量を基準にして、プレプレグ中の約1重量%〜約3重量%の揮発性物質を除きかつプレプレグの粘度を約1〜約40,000ポアズの範囲に増大させるのに十分な時間、プレプレグを減圧下で第1の上昇した温度に曝露する工程と、
任意に、プレプレグ中に残存するすべての揮発性物質を除くのに十分な時間、プレプレグを減圧下で第2の上昇した温度に曝露する工程と、
プレプレグを硬化させるのに十分な時間、プレプレグを減圧下で第3の上昇した温度に曝露する工程と、
減圧下または減圧されていない圧力下で、第1、第2または第3の上昇した温度条件のいずれか1つより低い第4の上昇した温度条件に硬化されたプレプレグを曝露する工程と
を含む、方法が提供される。

減圧下または減圧されていない圧力下で、第1、第2または第3の上昇した温度条件のいずれか1つまたは複数より低い第4の上昇した温度条件に硬化されたプレプレグを曝露する工程と
を含む、方法が提供される。
Claims (22)
- オートクレーブを使用せずにプレプレグを硬化させるための方法であって、
(A)熱硬化性樹脂組成物および繊維を含むプレプレグを用意する工程と、
(B)プレプレグを大気圧に対して減圧下に置く工程と、
(C)プレプレグ中の全重量を基準にして、プレプレグ中の1重量%〜3重量%の揮発性物質を除きかつプレプレグの粘度を1〜40,000ポアズ(0.1〜4,000Pa・秒)の範囲に増大させるのに十分な時間、プレプレグを減圧下で室温に対して第1の上昇した温度に曝露する工程とであって、ただし第1の上昇した温度は、120°F〜350°F(49℃〜177℃)の範囲内であり、ただし熱硬化性樹脂組成物の粘度が100%増加する時間が10分〜10時間の範囲であり、
(D)プレプレグを硬化させるのに十分な時間、大気圧に対して減圧下で、室温に対して上昇し第1の上昇した温度よりも高い第3の上昇した温度にプレプレグを曝露する工程と、
(E)大気圧に対して減圧下または減圧されていない圧力で、第1の上昇した温度または第3の上昇した温度のいずれか1または複数より低く室温に対して上昇した第4の上昇した温度に硬化されたプレプレグを曝露する工程
を含む、方法。 - 工程(C)において、第1の上昇した温度が140〜300°F(60〜149℃)の範囲である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 工程(C)において、第1の上昇した温度が200°F(93℃)以上である、請求項1または2に記載の方法。
- 工程(C)において、熱硬化性樹脂組成物の粘度を100〜40,000cps(0.1〜40Pa・秒)の範囲に増大させる、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 残存するすべての揮発性物質が、水、大気圧で低い沸点を有する材料に対して大気圧でより高い沸点を有する残存溶媒および/またはモノマー揮発性物質を含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 熱硬化性樹脂組成物が、エポキシ、エピスルフィド、オキセタン、チオキセタン、マレイミド、ナジイミド、イタコンイミド、オキサジン、シアン酸エステル、およびオキサゾリンのうちの1種または複数を含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 繊維が、炭素、ガラス、アラミド、ホウ素、ポリアルキレン、石英、ポリベンズイミダゾール、ポリエーテルエーテルケトン、ポリフェニレンスルフィド、ポリp−フェニレンベンゾビスオキサゾール、ポリp−フェニレンベンゾビスチアゾール、炭化ケイ素、フェノールホルムアルデヒド、フタレート、ポリピリドビスイミダゾール、およびナフテノエートからなる群から選択される1つである、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 繊維がガラスであって、Sガラス、S2ガラス、Eガラス、Rガラス、Aガラス、ARガラス、Cガラス、Dガラス、ECRガラス、ガラスフィラメント、ステープルガラス、Tガラス、および酸化ジルコニウムガラスからなる群から選択される1つである、請求項7に記載の方法。
- 繊維が炭素であって、ポリアクリロニトリル、ピッチ、レーヨン、またはアクリル樹脂から製造される、請求項7に記載の方法。
- 繊維が、ベンゾオキサジン含有サイズ剤によりサイズ処理された炭素である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 熱硬化性樹脂組成物がオキサジンであって、1種または複数のベンゾオキサジンを含む、請求項6に記載の方法。
- 減圧が、686mmHg(13.3psi、91.5kPa)より高い、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 第1の上昇した温度が200°F(93℃)であり、時間が2時間である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 工程(D)の第3の上昇した温度が360°F(182℃)であり、時間が2時間である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 工程(E)の第4の上昇した温度度が90°F(32℃)である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 硬化されたプレプレグが室温において貯蔵安定性を有する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 硬化されたプレプレグが、1/8インチ(3.18mm)より大きい検出可能な空洞が実質的にないことをc−スキャンを用いて示す、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 硬化されたプレプレグが、ASTM 3171−11を用いる酸分解によって測定された約1〜2体積%未満の総空洞量を示す、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 工程(C)の後であるが工程(D)の前に減圧下で室温に対して第2の上昇した温度にプレプレグを曝露し、前記第2の上昇した温度は第1の上昇した温度よりも高く、プレプレグ中に残存する揮発性物質を除くのに十分な時間である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 第2の上昇した温度が290°F(143℃)であり、時間が3時間である、請求項21に記載の方法。
