Description
本発明に係る印刷方法において用いるインクは、溶媒、バインダ樹脂及び昇華性染料を含み、バインダ樹脂は溶媒に分散又は乳濁しており、昇華性染料は上記バインダ樹脂の粒子中に含まれる。例えば、図1の(a)に示すように、バインダ樹脂11中に昇華性染料12が含まれている。
インク塗布工程では、上述したインクを被記録媒体の上に塗布する。図1の(a)はインク塗布工程後の様子を示している。メディア100の上に昇華性染料12を内包するバインダ樹脂11が塗布されている。なお、バインダ樹脂11は水及び/又は溶剤等の溶媒中に分散している。
加熱工程では、被記録媒体上に塗布されたインクを加熱して、インク中の昇華性染料をバインダ樹脂の粒子中に拡散させる。これにより、より高精彩な印刷物を得ることができる。
ここでは被記録媒体としてポリエステル系樹脂又はポリエステル布地を用いる場合について図2を用いて説明する。図2は、本変形例において、得られる印刷物の構造を模式的に示す図である。
以上のように、本発明に係る印刷方法の一実施形態は、溶媒、バインダ樹脂11及び昇華性染料12を含み、バインダ樹脂11は溶媒に分散又は乳濁しており、昇華性染料12はバインダ樹脂11の粒子中に含まれるインクを、メディア100上に塗布するインク塗布工程と、メディア100上に塗布されたインクを加熱して、昇華性染料12をバインダ樹脂11の粒子中に拡散させて発色させる加熱工程と、を含む。

Claims (6)
- 昇華性染料を内包しており、バインダ樹脂が表面に露出しているバインダ樹脂粒子、及び溶媒を含み、上記バインダ樹脂粒子が上記溶媒中に直接分散又は乳濁しているインクを、被記録媒体上に塗布するインク塗布工程と、
被記録媒体上に塗布された上記インクを加熱して、上記昇華性染料を上記バインダ樹脂粒子が溶解したバインダ樹脂中に拡散させて発色させる加熱工程と、
を含み、
上記バインダ樹脂粒子は、上記バインダ樹脂の溶液、モノマー又はオリゴマーと、上記昇華性染料とを混合し、上記バインダ樹脂の溶液、モノマー又はオリゴマーにおける当該バインダ樹脂を重合させて上記昇華性染料を上記バインダ樹脂粒子中に内包させたものであることを特徴とする印刷方法。 - 上記バインダ樹脂粒子は、上記昇華性染料により発色可能なポリエステル系樹脂に上記昇華性染料が内包されたものであることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の印刷方法。
- 上記加熱工程では、被記録媒体上が100℃以上、200℃以下になるように加熱することを特徴とする請求項2に記載の印刷方法。
- 上記溶媒は水であり、上記バインダ樹脂粒子は上記溶媒中に乳濁又は懸濁していることを特徴とする請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の印刷方法。
- 上記被記録媒体として、上記加熱工程における加熱において上記昇華性染料が当該被記録媒体の中に拡散する材料を用いることを特徴とする請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載の印刷方法。
- 上記被記録媒体がポリエステル系樹脂であることを特徴とする請求項5に記載の印刷方法。
