Claims (10)
- 少なくとも1つの下板単位電極を含む下板電極と、
前記少なくとも1つの下板単位電極と対向する少なくとも1つの上板単位電極を含む上板電極と、
前記下板電極及び前記上板電極の間に配置して、前記下板電極及び前記上板電極の表面にほぼ垂直に配向された複数の液晶を含む液晶層と、
を含み、
前記下板単位電極は、複数の副領域の間の境界を形成する十字状の幹部、及び互いに異なる副領域で互いに異なる方向に延在する複数の微細枝部を含み、
前記上板単位電極は、前記幹部と対向して平行に延在する開口部を含み、
前記下板単位電極は、前記十字状の幹部の中心に位置する中心パターンを含み、
前記中心パターンは、前記複数の副領域にそれぞれ位置する複数の直線辺、及び前記幹部上に位置する頂点を含む多角形である、液晶表示装置。 - 前記微細枝部の最大長さはほぼ53μmである、請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記液晶がプレチルトを有するようにするための配向補助剤を含んでいない、請求項2に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記開口部は十字状の開口部を含み、
前記上板単位電極は、前記十字状の開口部の中心に位置する中心開口部を含む、請求項3に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記中心開口部は、前記複数の副領域にそれぞれ位置する直線辺を含む多角形である、請求項4に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記中心開口部の大きさは、前記中心パターンより小さい、請求項4に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記下板電極が複数の下板単位電極を含み、前記上板電極が複数の上板単位電極を含むとき、
前記複数の下板単位電極は、前記幹部の延長線上に位置する第1接続部によって接続されており、
前記複数の上板単位電極は、前記開口部の延長線上に位置する第2接続部によって接続されている、請求項6に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記幹部の幅が前記開口部の幅より小さい、請求項7に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 一画素は、1つの入力映像信号に対して互いに同一であるか、または異なる輝度を表示する第1副画素及び第2副画素を含み、
前記第1副画素は及び前記第2副画素それぞれは、前記下板電極及び前記上板電極を含み、
前記第2副画素が含む前記少なくとも1つの下板単位電極の数は、前記第1副画素が含む前記少なくとも1つの下板単位電極の数より多い、請求項8に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1副画素が含む複数の下板単位電極の間のギャップのうち、横方向に延在する横ギャップの幅は、縦方向に延在する縦ギャップの幅より小さく、
前記第2副画素が含む複数の下板単位電極の間のギャップのうち、横方向に延在する横ギャップの幅は、縦方向に延在する縦ギャップの幅より大きい、請求項9に記載の液晶表示装置。
