Description
本出願は、2007年9月4日に出願した米国特許仮出願第60/982,978号明細書の利益を主張するものである。該出願の開示は、参照によりその全体が組み込まれる。
γ線滅菌したUHMWPEを圧縮成型してシート状とし(GUR(登録商標)1020、Quadrant社製、ドイツ)、機械加工し、不活性ガス雰囲気中で包装して3Mradの線量でγ線滅菌した。UHMWPE樹脂粉末を0.03、0.05または0.1wt%のα-トコフェロールと混合することによってビタミンEをブレンドした試料を作成し、圧縮成型してブロック状とし、空気中で7〜20Mradでγ線照射し、機械加工して所望の形状とした。試料のいくつかは追加的に3Mradの線量でγ線滅菌した。照射後の熱処理は行わなかった。
Claims (11)
- a.濃度が0.02〜0.12wt%の範囲のビタミンEを超高分子量ポリエチレンと混合するステップと;
b.前記超高分子量ポリエチレンとビタミンEの混合物を前記超高分子量ポリエチレンの溶融温度より高い温度で成型するステップと;
c.前記成型された超高分子量ポリエチレンとビタミンEの混合物を、空気中で、混合物中のビタミンE濃度に比例して決定された5〜20Mradの間の線量でγ線照射するステップと
を含む、成型物を調製する方法。 - ビタミンEの濃度が0.03〜0.1wt%の範囲である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- ビタミンEがトコフェロールである、請求項1または2に記載の方法。
- ビタミンEがα-トコフェロールである、請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記照射ステップが前記成型された超高分子量ポリエチレンとビタミンEの混合物を7〜15Mradの間の線量でγ線照射するステップを含む、請求項1〜4のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記照射ステップが前記成型された超高分子量ポリエチレンとビタミンEの混合物を9〜11Mradの間の線量でγ線照射するステップを含む、請求項1〜5のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- ビタミンEの濃度をγ線照射線量と比例して変化させるステップをさらに含む、請求項1〜6のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記γ線照射され、成型された超高分子量ポリエチレンとビタミンEの混合物を2.5〜4Mradの間の線量でγ線滅菌するステップをさらに含む、請求項1〜7のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記γ線照射され、成型された超高分子量ポリエチレンとビタミンEの混合物を3Mradの線量でγ線滅菌するステップをさらに含む、請求項1〜7のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記成型物がさらに熱処理を受けない、請求項1〜9のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記組成物を前記超高分子量ポリエチレンの溶融温度より低い温度でアニールするステップをさらに含む、請求項1〜9のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
