Description
本出願は、2007年9月4日に出願した米国特許仮出願第60/982,978号明細書の利益を主張するものである。該出願の開示は、参照によりその全体が組み込まれる。
γ線滅菌したUHMWPEを圧縮成型してシート状とし(GUR(登録商標)1020、Quadrant社製、ドイツ)、機械加工し、不活性ガス雰囲気中で包装して3Mradの線量でγ線滅菌した。UHMWPE樹脂粉末を0.03、0.05または0.1wt%のα-トコフェロールと混合することによってビタミンEをブレンドした試料を作成し、圧縮成型してブロック状とし、空気中で7〜20Mradでγ線照射し、機械加工して所望の形状とした。試料のいくつかは追加的に3Mradの線量でγ線滅菌した。照射後の熱処理は行わなかった。
Claims (11)
- 第1の補綴コンポーネントと接触するように構成された第1の表面と、第2の補綴コンポーネントと連接するように構成された関節面とを有する、成型され、γ線照射された成型物を含む補綴デバイスであって、
該成型物が、超高分子量ポリエチレン、及び、ビタミンEを含み、
混合物中のビタミンE濃度が0.02〜0.12wt%であるように最初に前記超高分子量ポリエチレンと混合され、次いで前記超高分子量ポリエチレンの融点より高い温度で前記超高分子量ポリエチレンとともに成型されて成型組成物を形成し、前記成型組成物は空気中で5〜20Mradの間の照射線量でγ線照射され、
前記γ線照射線量がビタミンEの濃度に比例して変化し、
以下の特徴:
a)1.5E+18g -1 〜5E+18g -1 の間のフリーラジカル含量;
b)23Mpaより大なる降伏応力;
c)40Mpaより大なる引張り強度;
d)270%より大なる破断伸び;及び
e)30kJ/m 2 を超えるシャルピー衝撃強度
をさらに有する(但し、0.1wt%のビタミンE濃度を有し、95kGyの線量でガンマ線照射された成型物、0.05wt%のビタミンE濃度を有し、65kGyの線量でガンマ線照射された成型物、及び0.1wt%のビタミンE濃度を有し、100kGyの線量でガンマ線照射された成型物を除外する)、補綴デバイス。 - ビタミンEの濃度が0.03〜0.1wt%の範囲である、請求項1に記載の補綴デバイス。
- ビタミンEがトコフェロールである、請求項1または2に記載の補綴デバイス。
- ビタミンEがα-トコフェロールである、請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載の補綴デバイス。
- 前記γ線照射が7〜15Mradの範囲内の線量である、請求項1〜4のいずれか一項に記載の補綴デバイス。
- 前記γ線照射が9〜11Mradの範囲内の線量である、請求項1〜5のいずれか一項に記載の補綴デバイス。
- 2.5〜4Mradの範囲内の線量でさらにγ線滅菌される、請求項1〜6のいずれか一項に記載の補綴デバイス。
- さらなるγ線滅菌が3Mradの線量で実施される、請求項7に記載の補綴デバイス。
- 前記成型組成物がさらに熱処理を受けない、請求項1〜8のいずれか一項に記載の補綴デバイス。
- 不活性ガス中でγ線滅菌される、請求項8に記載の補綴デバイス。
- 前記超高分子量ポリエチレンが粉末であって、該粉末は低い分子量を有する一部の粉末を含む多様な分子量分布を有する、請求項1〜10のいずれか一項に記載の補綴デバイス。
