Description
自動車、電車などの車に搭載する場合、高温環境下(例えば60℃以上)での貯蔵性能、サイクル性能、高出力の長期信頼性などから正極、負極の構成材料には、化学的、電気化学的な安定性、強度、耐腐食性の優れた材料が求められる。さらに、寒冷地での高い性能が要求される場合、低温環境下(例えば−40℃)での高出力性能、長寿命性能が必要となる。一方、非水電解質として安全性能向上の観点から不揮発性、不燃性電解液の開発が進められているが、出力特性、低温性能、長寿命性能の低下を伴うことからいまだ実用化されていない。
第1の実施形態によれば、正極と、負極と、非水電解質とを含む非水電解質電池2個が電気的に直列に接続された組電池が提供される。組電池は、4V以上5V以下の範囲の充電最大電圧を有する。正極は、LixFe1-yMnyAzPO4(Aは、V,Mg,Ni,Al,Sn、Zr及びNbよりなる群から選択される少なくとも1種類の元素であり、0≦x≦1.1,0≦y≦0.2、0≦z≦0.2)で表され、かつオリビン構造を有する鉄含有のリン化合物を含む。負極は、チタンを含有する酸化物を含む。
この正極は、正極集電体と、集電体の片面もしくは両面に担持され、活物質、導電剤および結着剤を含む正極材料層(正極活物質含有層)とを有する。導電剤および結着剤は、任意成分である。
この負極は、負極集電体と、集電体の片面もしくは両面に担持され、活物質、導電剤および結着剤を含む負極材料層(負極活物質含有層)とを有する。導電剤および結着剤は任意成分である。
正極と負極の間にはセパレータを配置することができる。セパレータの例には、ポリエチレン(PE)やポリプロピレン(PP)などのオレフィン系多孔質膜、セルロース繊維製セパレータが含まれる。セパレータの形態は、不織布、フィルム、紙などを挙げることができる。セパレータの気孔率は50%以上が好ましい。気孔率が60%以上のセルロース繊維製セパレータは、電解質の含浸性が良く、低温から高温まで高い出力性能を出すことができる。より好ましい範囲は62%〜80%である。
非水電解質としては、電解質を有機溶媒に溶解することにより調製される液状の有機電解質、液状の有機溶媒と高分子材料を複合化したゲル状の有機電解質、またはリチウム塩電解質と高分子材料を複合化した固体非水電解質が挙げられる。また、リチウムイオンを含有した常温溶融塩(イオン性融体)を非水電解質として使用してもよい。高分子材料としては、例えば、ポリフッ化ビニリデン(PVdF)、ポリアクリロニトリル(PAN)、ポリエチレンオキサイド(PEO)等を挙げることができる。
正極、負極及び非水電解質が収容される容器には、金属製容器や、ラミネートフィルム製容器を使用することができる。
第2の実施形態によれば、非水電解質電池2個が電気的に直列に接続された組電池と、保護回路とを含む電池パックが提供される。非水電解質電池は、正極と、負極と、非水電解質とを含む。正極は、LixFe1-yMnyAzPO4(Aは、V,Mg,Ni,Al,Sn、Zr及びNbよりなる群から選択される少なくとも1種類の元素であり、0≦x≦1.1,0≦y≦0.2、0≦z≦0.2)で表され、かつオリビン構造を有する鉄含有のリン化合物を含む。負極は、チタンを含有する酸化物を含む。保護回路は、組電池の充電最大電圧を4V以上5V以下の範囲に制御する。第2の実施形態の電池パックによれば、第1の実施形態の組電池を含む電池パックを実現することができる。
第3の実施形態によれば、第1の実施形態の組電池を少なくとも1組か、第2の実施形態の電池パックを少なくとも1個含む自動車が提供される。自動車の例には、二輪乃至四輪のハイブリッド電気自動車、二輪乃至四輪の電気自動車、アシスト自転車等が含まれる。
正極活物質に、炭素微粒子(平均粒子径5nm)が表面に付着(付着量0.1重量%)した一次粒子の平均粒子径100nmのオリビン構造のLiFePO4を用い、これに、導電剤として正極全体に対して繊維径0.1μmの気相成長の炭素繊維を3重量%、黒鉛粉末を5重量%、結着剤として正極全体に対して5重量%のPVdFをそれぞれ配合してn−メチルピロリドン(NMP)溶媒に分散してスラリーを調製した。得られたスラリーを厚さ15μmのアルミニウム合金箔(純度99%)の両面に塗布し、乾燥し、プレス工程を経て、片面の正極活物質含有層の厚さは43μm、電極密度2.2g/cm3の正極を作製した。正極活物質含有層の比表面積は、5m2/gであった。
正極活物質、負極活物質、充電最大電圧を下記表1,2に示すように設定すること以外は、参考例1で説明したのと同様にして組電池を作製した。なお、表中の負極活物質における(1:1)の表示は、重量比で1:1を示す。

[1]〜[2]のいずれか1に記載の組電池か、[3]〜[4]のいずれか1に記載の電池パックがエンジンルームに配置されたことを特徴する自動車。
Claims (9)
- LixFe1-yMnyAzPO4(Aは、V,Mg,Ni,Al,Sn、Zr及びNbよりなる群から選択される少なくとも1種類の元素であり、0≦x≦1.1,0.05≦y≦0.15、0≦z≦0.2)で表され、かつオリビン構造を有する鉄含有のリン化合物を含む正極と、チタンを含有する酸化物を含む負極と、非水電解質とを含む非水電解質電池2個が電気的に直列に接続され、かつ4V以上5V以下の範囲の充電最大電圧を有する組電池。
- 前記チタンを含有する酸化物は、ニオブチタン酸化物、単斜晶構造を有するチタン酸化物、又は、スピネル構造を有するリチウムチタン酸化物と前記ニオブチタン酸化物及び前記単斜晶構造を有するチタン酸化物のうちの少なくとも1種との両方を含む請求項1に記載の組電池。
- 前記チタンを含有する酸化物は、前記スピネル構造を有するリチウムチタン酸化物と前記ニオブチタン酸化物及び前記単斜晶構造を有するチタン酸化物のうちの少なくとも1種とを含む請求項2に記載の組電池。
- 前記チタンを含有する酸化物は、ラムスデライト構造を有するリチウムチタン酸化物を更に含む請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の組電池。
- LixFe1-yMny A z PO4(Aは、V,Mg,Ni,Al,Sn、Zr及びNbよりなる群から選択される少なくとも1種類の元素であり、0≦x≦1.1,0.05≦y≦0.15、0≦z≦0.2)で表され、かつオリビン構造を有する鉄含有のリン化合物を含む正極と、チタンを含有する酸化物を含む負極と、非水電解質とを含む非水電解質電池2個が電気的に直列に接続された組電池と、
前記組電池の充電最大電圧を4V以上5V以下の範囲に制御する保護回路とを含む電池パック。 - 前記組電池と対向するように配置された放熱板をさらに含む請求項5に記載の電池パック。
- 通電用の外部端子を更に含む請求項5又は6に記載の電池パック。
- 複数の前記組電池を具備する請求項5〜7のいずれか1項に記載の電池パック。
- 請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載の組電池か、請求項5〜8のいずれか1項に記載の電池パックがエンジンルームに配置された自動車。
