Description
本出願は、「Melt Spinable Concentrate Pellets Having Enhanced Reversible Thermal Properties」という名称のHartmann他の特許出願、すなわち2000年9月21日出願の米国仮特許出願番号第60/234,150号に関する特典を請求するものである、「Melt Spinable Concentrate Pellets Having Enhanced Reversible Thermal Properties」という名称のHartmann他の特許出願、すなわち2001年2月6日出願の米国特許出願第09/777,512号の継続出願である、「Melt Spinable Concentrate Pellets Having Enhanced Reversible Thermal Properties」という名称のHartmann他の特許出願、すなわち2004年7月13日出願の米国特許出願第10/891,428号の一部継続出願である。これらの開示内容はそれらの全体が参照により本明細書に組み込まれる。
本明細書中で述べる高分子複合体を開発する必要性が生じたことがこの背景にある。
本発明の幾つかの実施形態によれば相変化材料は、固体/固体相変化材料であることができる。固体/固体相変化材料は、一般に2種類の固体状態間で転移(例えば結晶またはメソ結晶相の転移)を受ける型の相変化材料であり、したがって一般に使用中に液体にならない。
幾つかの用途の場合、その高分子相変化材料には、通常の重合法を用いて形成することができる約0℃から約50℃の範囲の融点を有するホモポリマーを挙げることができる。表2は、様々な種類のモノマー単位から形成することができる様々なホモポリマーの融点を示す。
母材高分子材料を温度調節材料と相溶性または混和性であるか、あるいはそれに対して親和性を有するように選択することができることが分かるはずである。温度調節材料が相変化材料を含有した封じ込め構造体を含んでいる実施形態では、その母材高分子材料は、相変化材料に対するその親和性と共に、またはその親和性に代るものとして封じ込め構造体に対するその親和性を得るように選択することができる。本発明の幾つかの実施形態によれば母材高分子材料は、温度調節材料とわずかなまたは部分的な相溶性または混和性、あるいは親和性を有することができる。このような部分的親和性は、温度調節材料の分散を容易にするのに、またより高温での加工を容易にするのに十分である。より低温およびせん断条件では、またいったん高分子複合体が形成されると、この部分的親和性は温度調節材料を分離させることができる。未加工の形態の相変化材料を使用する本発明の実施形態の場合、この部分的親和性は相変化材料の不溶化および高分子複合体内での相変化材料のドメイン形成の向上をもたらすことができる。
低分子量ポリエチレンホモポリマー(Honeywell Specialty Chemicalsにより製造されたAC−16ポリエチレン、滴点102℃)約5.0ポンドをウェットフラッシング装置に加え、次いでそのホモポリマーを約110℃から約130℃でゆっくり融解し混合した。いったんホモポリマーが融解したらウェットケーキ約8.47ポンドをこの溶融ホモポリマーに約30分かけてゆっくり加えて第一ブレンドを形成した。このウェットケーキは、相変化材料を含有する水湿潤マイクロカプセル(MicroTek Laboratories, Inc.により製造されたPCMロット#M 42-31、マイクロカプセルおよび相変化材料59.0重量パーセント)を含む。
上記合成繊維の示差走査熱量計(DSC)による測定をPerkin Elmer Pyris 1計測器を用いて行った。冷却は、FTS Systems Intercoller 1を用いて行った。データ分析は、Perkin Elmer Pyris熱分析システムおよびウィンドウズ(登録商標)用ソフトウェア(バージョン3.72)を用いて行った。
未加工の形態の相変化材料(Kenwax 19パラフィン、C18からC24パラフィン系炭化水素のブレンド、潜熱150 J/g)約3.1307グラムをガラス瓶に入れ、その相変化材料に対してわずかなまたは部分的な親和性を有する高分子材料(Elvax 450、酢酸ビニル18重量パーセント、DuPont Inc.により供給されたポリエチレン−co−酢酸ビニルポリマー)約3.1255グラムをこのガラス瓶に加えた。この相変化材料と高分子材料を120℃から130℃の間で手で混ぜ合わせ、均質かつ透明な50:50(重量)のブレンドを生成した。冷却すると高分子複合体が形成され、その高分子複合体は濁りを帯びかつゴム状であり、蝋質または脂肪性の感触を伴わなかった。この高分子複合体のDSC測定は73.3 J/gの熱エネルギー貯蔵能力を示し、これは熱調節特性を与えるのに有効なKenwax 19の48.9パーセントに相当する。
Claims (3)
- 少なくとも2J/gの潜熱を有し、
セルロース系母材材料と、
分散用高分子材料と、
非カプセル化相変化材料と、のブレンドから形成される繊維体を含む、
多成分高分子複合体繊維であって、
前記分散用高分子材料は前記非カプセル化相変化材料に対して部分的親和性を有し、
前記非カプセル化相変化材料は、
前記分散用高分子材料に対して少なくとも部分的に不溶性であり、
前記分散用高分子材料中に分散した複数個のドメインを形成し、そして、
0℃〜100℃の範囲に転移温度を有し、
0℃〜40℃の範囲の融点を有するポリエステルを含み、
前記非カプセル化相変化材料と前記分散用高分子材料とは、高温では混和性となり、低温になると半混和性となるものである、
多成分高分子複合体繊維。 - 前記非カプセル化相変化材料が、
第一相変化材料、及び
第二相変化材料、
を含む、請求項1に記載の多成分溶融紡糸高分子複合体繊維。 - 前記相変化材料が、シリカ粒子、ゼオライト粒子及び吸収材ポリマーからなる群から選択される粒子状材料に吸収されている、請求項1に記載の多成分溶融紡糸高分子複合体繊維。
