米国特許第6,186,906号明細書(Sullivan等)は、個別粒子のゲルを有するゴルフボール組成物を開示している。
米国特許第7,402,114号明細書(Binette等)は、部分的から高度までに中和されたコポリマーブレンド、脂肪酸または脂肪酸の塩、および、重い重量のフィラーを有するゴルフボール材料を開示している。
米国特許第7,612,135号明細書(Kennedy III等)は、部分的から高度までに中和された酸コポリマーブレンド、メタローセン触媒アルファ−オレフィンおよび軟化コモノマー、ならびに脂肪酸または脂肪酸塩を有するゴルフボール材料を開示している。

米国特許出願公開第2003/0216520号明細書(イリイ等)は、コアがカバーで被覆され、コアが、ポリブタジエンゴムを含む組成物から構成され、カバーがアイオノマー樹脂およびジエンゴムから成る樹脂組成物から構成される、ゴルフボールを開示している。
米国特許出願公開第2012/0165122号明細書(Kim等)は、外側カバー層および中間層のうちの少なくとも1つが、約2から約40wt%のポリアミドおよび約60から約98wt%の1または複数のブロックコポリマー、酸性コポリマー;酸性ターポリマー;アイオノマー、またはマルチコンオーネントブレンド組成物のブレンド組成物を有し、ポリアミドの融点が他のブレンドコンポーネントの融点より約5°Cから約200°Cだけ高い、ゴルフボールを開示している。
米国特許第6,361,453号明細書(ナカムラ等)は、ソリッドコアおよびカバーを具備し、ソリッドコアがコア形成材料および異なる材料の粒子からなるソリッドゴルフボールを開示する。
マトリックスを製造するのに適切な熱硬化性組成物は、天然ゴム、ポリブタジエン、ポリスチレン、エチレンプロピレンゴム(EPR)、エチレンプロピレンジエンゴム(EPDM)、スチレンブタジエンゴム、ブチルゴム、ホロブチルゴム、ポリウレタン、ポリ尿素、アクリロニトリルブタジエンゴム、ポリクロロプレン、アルキルアクリレートゴム、塩化イソプレンゴム、アクリロニトリル塩化イソプレンゴム、ポリアルケナマー、フェノールホルムアルデヒド、メラミンホルムアルデヒド、ポリエポキシド、ポリシロキサンポリエステ、アルキド、ポリイソシアヌレート、ポリシアヌレート、ポリアクリレート、およびこれらの2またはそれ以上の組み合わせを含む。
この発明の粒子組成物は、熱可塑性材料である。この発明の目的において、熱可塑性材料は、ポリ−パラ−フェニレンテレフタルアミド(例えばKevlar(商標)パラ−アラミド繊維)のような、溶融する前に劣化するポリマーを含まない。
(a)ポリエステルエラストマー(例えば、Hytrel(商標)ポリエステルエラストマー);ポリエーテルブロックアミド(例えば、Pebax(商標)ポリエーテルブロックアミド;ポリエステル−エーテルアミド;および、ポリプロピレンエーテルグリコール組成物、米国特許出願公開第2005/0256294号明細書に開示されたもの(その内容は参照してここに組み入れる);ならびにこれらの2またはそれ以上の組み合わせから選択される第1の要素。
(b)部分的にまたは高度に中和された、とくに、脂肪酸塩を有し高度に中和されたアイオノマー、例えばDuPont(商標)HFP1000およびHFP2000、および、VLMIタイプのアイオノマー、例えばSurlyn(商標)9320アイオノマーを含む、O/X/YタイプおよびO/Xタイプアイオノマー;O/X/Yタイプ酸コポリマー;および、ポリアミドおよびポリアミドのブレンド、特に、先に開示したポリアミドおよびポリアミドのブレンドから選択されたもの、から選択された第2の要素。
この実施例の具体的な側面では、粒子組成物は、少なくとも、ポリエステルエラストマーと、脂肪酸塩を有し高度に中和されたアイオノマーとを含むブレンドから形成される。そのようなブレンドは、例えば、米国特許第7,375,151号明細書に開示され、その内容は参照してここに組み入れる。
この発明に従うゴルフボール組成物は、種々の構造において採用できる。例えば、この組成物は、ワンピース、ツーピース(すなわち、コアおよびカバー)、マルチ層(すなわち、1または複数の層から成るコア、および1または複数の層から成るカバー)、および、糸巻ゴルフボールに使用して好適であり、これらは種々のコア構造、中間層、カバー、およびコーティングを伴う。
この発明に従う形成された、ゴルフボールのコアは、ソリッド、セミソリッド、空洞、流体、粉体、または気体充填であってよく、またワンピースでもマルチレイヤでもよい。マルチレイヤのコアは、センタの最も内側の部分を含み、これはソリッド、セミソリッド、空洞、流体、粉体、または気体充填であって良く、少なくとも1つの外側コア層により包囲される。外側コア層はソリッドでも良いし、張力付与された弾性材料から形成された糸巻き層であっても良い。この発明の目的の範囲で、用語「セミソリッド」は、ペースト、ゲル、またはそれに類似するものを指す。
この発明のゴルフボールが、1または複数の中間層、すなわち、ゴルフボールのコアおよびカバーの間に配される層を含むときには、各中間層は、熱可塑性および熱硬化性の材料を含む、当業者に知られている任意の材料を含んでよい。
この発明のゴルフボールカバーは、単一、二重、マルチ層カバーを含む。二重およびマルチ層カバーは、内側カバー層および外側カバー層を具備し、また、マルチ層カバーは付加的に内側カバー層および外側カバー層の間に少なくとも1つの中間カバー層を具備する。
(a)「高酸アイオノマー」を有する組成物(すなわち酸顔料が16wt%を超えるもの)、例えば、Surlyn8150(商標)。
(b)高酸アイオノマーおよび無水マレイン酸グラフト化非アイオノマーポリマー(すなわち、Fusabond官能化ポリマー)を有する組成物。高酸アイオノマーおよび無水マレイン酸グラフト化非アイオノマーポリマーの、とくに好ましいブレンドは、Surlyn8150(商標)およびFusabond(商標)の84wt%および16wt%のブレンドである。高酸アイオノマーに無水マレイン酸グラフト化ポリマーを加えたブレンドはさらに米国特許第6,992,135号および同第6,677,401号に開示されており、それらの内容は参照してここに組み入れる。
(c)Surlyn(商標)8940/Surlyn(商標)9650/Nucrel(商標)960の50/45/5のブレンドを有する組成物。好ましくは、80〜85ショアCの材料硬度を有する。
(d)Surlyn(商標)8940/Surlyn(商標)9650/Surlyn(商標)9910の50/25/25のブレンドを有する組成物。好ましくは、約90ショアCの材料硬度を有する。
(e)Surlyn(商標)8940/Surlyn(商標)9650の50/50のブレンドを有する組成物。好ましくは、約86ショアCの材料硬度を有する。
(f)Surlyn(商標)7940/Surlyn(商標)8940のブレンドを有する組成物。オプションとしてメルトフロー修正剤を含む。
(g)第1の高酸アイオノマーおよび第2の高酸アイオノマーのブレンドを有する組成物で、第1の高酸アイオノマーは第2の高酸アイオノマーのカチオンと異なるカチオンで中和され(例えばSurlyn(商標)8150/Surlyn(商標)9150の50/50のブレンド)、オプションとして、アイオノマー、エチレン酸コポリマー、またはエステルポリマーのような1または複数のメルトフロー修正剤を含むもの。
(h)第1の高酸アイオノマーおよび第2の高酸アイオノマー(第1の高酸アイオノマーは第2の高酸アイオノマーのカチオンと異なるカチオンで中和される)、ならびに、0〜10wt%のエチレン/酸/エステルアイオノマー(エチレン/酸/エステルアイオノマーは、第1の高酸アイオノマーまたは第2の高酸アイオノマーのカチオンと同一のカチオンで中和され、あるいは、第1の高酸アイオノマーまたは第2の高酸アイオノマーのカチオンのいずれとも異なるカチオンで中和される。例えば、40−50wt%のSurlyn(商標)8140、40−50wt%のSurlyn(商標)9120、および0−10wt%のSurlyn(商標)6320のブレンド)のブレンドを有する組成物。
ゴルフボール部品の寸法、すなわち、厚さおよび直径は、所望の特性に応じて変化する。この発明の目的の範囲で、任意の層の厚さを採用できる。
以下、ここで説明した技術的特徴について列挙する。

異種組成物は、
熱硬化性ポリマー組成物から形成されたマトリックスと、

上記粒子の最大粒子サイズは0.900mmであることを特徴とするゴルフボール。

上記個別粒子は上記組成物中に上記組成物の総合重量を基準にして18wt%以上の量だけ存在する技術的特徴1記載のゴルフボール。
[技術的特徴3]
上記個別粒子は上記組成物中に上記組成物の総合重量を基準にして20wt%以上の量だけ存在する技術的特徴1記載のゴルフボール。
[技術的特徴4]
上記粒子の最大粒子サイズは0.841mmである技術的特徴1記載のゴルフボール。
[技術的特徴5]
当該ゴルフボールはコアおよびカバーを有し、上記カバーは上記異種組成物から製造された層を有する技術的特徴1記載のゴルフボール。
[技術的特徴6]
当該ゴルフボールはコア、カバー、および当該コアおよびカバーの間に配される中間層を有し、上記中間層は上記異種組成物から製造される技術的特徴1記載のゴルフボール。

異種組成物から製造された層を有するゴルフボールにおいて、
異種組成物は、
熱硬化性ポリマー組成物から形成されたマトリックスと、
上記マトリックス中に分散される熱可塑性ポリマー組成物の個別粒子であって、上記熱可塑性ポリマー組成物の融点が上記熱硬化性ポリマー組成物の硬化温度より大きいものとを有し、
上記熱硬化性ポリマーの比重と上記熱可塑性組成物の比重との差が少なくとも0.13g/cm 3 であることを特徴とするゴルフボール。

上記熱硬化性ポリマーの比重と上記熱可塑性組成物の比重との差が少なくとも0.15g/cm 3 である技術的特徴7記載のゴルフボール。
[技術的特徴9]
上記個別粒子は上記組成物中に上記組成物の総合重量を基準にして18wt%以上の量だけ存在する技術的特徴7記載のゴルフボール。

上記個別粒子は上記組成物中に上記組成物の総合重量を基準にして20wt%以上の量だけ存在する技術的特徴7記載のゴルフボール。

上記マトリックス中に分散される熱可塑性ポリマー組成物の個別粒子であって、上記熱可塑性ポリマー組成物の融点が上記熱硬化性ポリマー組成物の硬化温度より大きいものとを有し、
上記粒子の最大粒子サイズは0.900mmであり、上記粒子は上記異種組成物中に上記異種組成物の総合重量を基準にして18wt%以上の量だけ存し、
上記熱硬化性ポリマーの比重と上記熱可塑性組成物の比重との差が少なくとも0.13g/cm 3 であることを特徴とするゴルフボール。

上記熱硬化性マトリックス組成物は、エチレンプロピレンゴム、エチレンプロピレンジエンゴム、スチレンブタジエンゴム、ブチルゴム、ホロブチルゴム、アクリロニトリルブタジエンゴム、ポリクロロプレン、アルキルアクリレートゴム、塩化イソプレンゴム、アクリロニトリル塩化イソプレンゴム、ポリアルケナマー、フェノールホルムアルデヒド、メラミンホルムアルデヒド、ポリエポキシド、ポリシロキサンポリエステ、アルキド、ポリイソシアヌレート、ポリシアヌレート、ポリアクリレート、およびこれらの2またはそれ以上の組み合わせからなるグループから選択される技術的特徴21記載のゴルフボール。

上記熱可塑性マトリックス組成物は、非アイオノマー性酸コポリマー、ポリエーテルアミド、ポリエステルアミド、ポリイミド、ポリスチレン、ポリエチレン、ポリプロピレン、ゴム強化ポリオレフィン、スチレンコポリマーおよびスチレンブロックコポリマー、動的加硫エラストマー、エチレンビニルアセテート、エチレン(メタ)アクリレートを基礎にしたポリマー、エチレンエラストマー、プロピレンエラストマー、エチレンプロピレンゴム、エチレンプロピレンジエンゴム、ポリ塩化ビニル、ポリテトラフルオロエチレン、これらの官能化誘導体、および、これらのうちの2つまたはそれ以上の組み合わせからなるグループから選択される技術的特徴21記載のゴルフボール。
Claims (4)
- 異種組成物から製造された層を有するゴルフボールにおいて、
異種組成物は、
熱硬化性ポリマー組成物から形成されたマトリックスと、
上記マトリックス中に分散される熱可塑性ポリマー組成物の、中身が詰まった個別粒子であって、上記熱可塑性ポリマー組成物の融点が上記熱硬化性ポリマー組成物の硬化温度より大きいものとを有し、
上記粒子の最大粒子サイズは0.900mmであり、
上記ゴルフボールはコアおよびカバーを有し、上記カバーは上記異種組成物から製造された上記層を有することを特徴とするゴルフボール。 - 異種組成物から製造された層を有するゴルフボールにおいて、
異種組成物は、
熱硬化性ポリマー組成物から形成されたマトリックスと、
上記マトリックス中に分散される熱可塑性ポリマー組成物の、中身が詰まった個別粒子であって、上記熱可塑性ポリマー組成物の融点が上記熱硬化性ポリマー組成物の硬化温度より大きいものとを有し、
上記熱硬化性ポリマーの比重と上記熱可塑性組成物の比重との差が少なくとも0.13g/cm3であり、
上記ゴルフボールはコアおよびカバーを有し、上記カバーは上記異種組成物から製造された上記層を有することを特徴とするゴルフボール。 - 異種組成物から製造された層を有するゴルフボールにおいて、
異種組成物は、
熱硬化性ポリマー組成物から形成されたマトリックスと、
上記マトリックス中に分散される熱可塑性ポリマー組成物の、中身が詰まった個別粒子であって、上記熱可塑性ポリマー組成物の融点が上記熱硬化性ポリマー組成物の硬化温度より大きいものとを有し、
上記組成物は少なくとも500個の上記個別粒子を有し、
上記ゴルフボールはコアおよびカバーを有し、上記カバーは上記異種組成物から製造された上記層を有することを特徴とするゴルフボール。 - 異種組成物から製造された層を有するゴルフボールにおいて、
異種組成物は、
熱硬化性ポリマー組成物から形成されたマトリックスと、
上記マトリックス中に分散される熱可塑性ポリマー組成物の、中身が詰まった個別粒子であって、上記熱可塑性ポリマー組成物の融点が上記熱硬化性ポリマー組成物の硬化温度より大きいものとを有し、
上記粒子の最大粒子サイズは0.900mmであり、上記粒子は上記異種組成物中に上記異種組成物の総合重量を基準にして18wt%以上の量だけ存し、
