Description
中密度ポリエチレンホモポリマーを含み、剥離防止剤を有しないアスファルト混合物は、それぞれ約0.5、0.68、及び0.52の引張り強さ比を有しており、したがって道路の建設及び/又は維持のために許容できないことが分かった。しかしながら、棒グラフ106及び110によって示される、Honeywell Titan(登録商標)7686酸化高密度ポリエチレンホモポリマーを含み、SBSを有するか又は有さず、剥離防止剤を有しないアスファルト混合物は、それぞれ約0.99及び1.01の引張り強さ比を有しており、したがって道路の建設及び/又は維持のために許容できることが分かった。
以下に本発明の態様を示す。
(1)基アスファルト、及び基アスファルトの約0.25〜約10重量%の量で存在する酸化ポリオレフィンを含む、アスファルト舗装材料の約3〜約8重量%の量で存在するアスファルトバインダー;及び
アスファルト舗装材料の約92〜約97重量%の量で存在する骨材;
を含み;
酸化ポリオレフィンがアスファルトバインダーを骨材に有効に接着して、水分によって引き起こされる骨材からのアスファルトバインダーの剥離を阻止するアスファルト舗装材料。
(2)酸化ポリオレフィンがアスファルトバインダーを骨材に有効に接着して、アスファルト舗装材料が少なくとも約0.65のAASHTO−T−283引張り強さ比を有する、(1)に記載のアスファルト舗装材料。
(3)酸化ポリオレフィンがアスファルトバインダーを骨材に有効に接着して、アスファルト舗装材料が少なくとも約0.75のAASHTO−T−283引張り強さ比を有する、(1)に記載のアスファルト舗装材料。
(4)酸化ポリオレフィンが基アスファルトの約1〜約4重量%の量で存在する、(19に記載のアスファルト舗装材料。
(5)酸化ポリオレフィンが、酸化ポリエチレン、酸化ポリプロピレン、及びこれらの混合物からなる群から選択される、(19に記載のアスファルト舗装材料。
(6)酸化ポリオレフィンが酸化ポリエチレンホモポリマーを含む、(1)に記載のアスファルト舗装材料。

(11)アスファルトバインダーが剥離剤を実質的に含まない、(1)に記載のアスファルト舗装材料。
(12)アスファルトバインダーが基アスファルト及び酸化ポリオレフィンから実質的に構成される、(1)に記載のアスファルト舗装材料。
(13)アスファルト舗装材料がアスファルトバインダー及び骨材から実質的に構成される、(12)に記載のアスファルト舗装材料。
(14)アスファルトバインダー及び骨材を、アスファルト舗装材料を形成するのに有効な条件において混合する工程を含み、アスファルトバインダーはアスファルト舗装材料の約3〜約8重量%の量で存在し、骨材はアスファルト舗装材料の約92〜約97重量%の量で存在し、アスファルトバインダーは、基アスファルト、及び基アスファルトの約0.25〜約10重量%の量で存在する酸化ポリオレフィンを含み、酸化ポリオレフィンがアスファルトバインダーを骨材に有効に接着して、水分によって引き起こされる骨材からのアスファルトバインダーの剥離を阻止する、アスファルト舗装材料の製造方法。

Claims (5)
- 基アスファルト、及び基アスファルトの0.25〜10重量%の量で存在する酸化ポリオレフィンを含む、アスファルト舗装材料の3〜8重量%の量で存在するアスファルトバインダー;及び
アスファルト舗装材料の92〜97重量%の量で存在する骨材;
を含み;
通常の剥離防止剤を実質的に含まず;
