Claims (4)
- 固体高分子電解質膜の一方の面に、第1触媒層及び第1ガス拡散層を有する第1電極が配設され、前記固体高分子電解質膜の他方の面に、第2触媒層及び第2ガス拡散層を有する第2電極が配設される電解質膜・電極構造体と、
前記電解質膜・電極構造体の両面に配置されるセパレータと、
を備える燃料電池であって、
前記電解質膜・電極構造体は、前記第1触媒層の外周縁部に第1重なり部位を有して前記固体高分子電解質膜の一方の面に配設される第1保護フィルムと、
前記第2触媒層の外周縁部に第2重なり部位を有して前記固体高分子電解質膜の他方の面に配設される第2保護フィルムと、
を設けるとともに、
一方の前記セパレータは、前記第1重なり部位に対向する部位に、厚さ方向に薄肉状の第1逃げ用段差部を設け、且つ、他方の前記セパレータは、前記第2重なり部位に対向する部位に、厚さ方向に薄肉状の第2逃げ用段差部を設けることを特徴とする燃料電池。 - 請求項1記載の燃料電池において、前記第1重なり部位は、前記第1保護フィルムの内周縁部が前記第1触媒層と前記第1ガス拡散層との間に配置されて構成される一方、
前記第2重なり部位は、前記第2保護フィルムの内周縁部が前記第2触媒層と前記第2ガス拡散層との間に配置されて構成されることを特徴とする燃料電池。 - 請求項1又は2記載の燃料電池において、前記第1逃げ用段差部及び前記第2逃げ用段差部は、前記第1ガス拡散層及び前記第2ガス拡散層の外周端部から内方側に入り込んで形成される平坦面を有することを特徴とする燃料電池。
- 請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の燃料電池において、前記固体高分子電解質膜の平面寸法は、前記第1ガス拡散層及び前記第2ガス拡散層の平面寸法よりも大きく設定されるとともに、
前記第1ガス拡散層と前記第2ガス拡散層とは、同一の平面寸法に設定されることを特徴とする燃料電池。
