Description
ガソリン及び他の燃料の性能は添加剤の使用によって改善できることはよく知られている。例えば、呼気システムの沈着物の形成を阻害するために洗剤を添加することで、エンジンの清浄度を改善することができる。近年になって、エンジンの摩擦を低減することで燃費を改善するために、ガソリンに摩擦改善剤が添加されている。洗剤又は摩擦改善剤といった添加剤として適切な成分を選択するにおいては、性能のバランスを確保することが重要である。例えば、摩擦改善剤は洗剤の沈着物制御に悪影響を及ぼすべきではない。加えて、添加剤パッケージは、エンジンの性能に対して弁固着など有害な作用を示すべきではない。

R1−C(=O)−O−CHRaCHRb−N−[CHRaCHRbO−(CHR2CHR3−O)q−H][(CHR2CHR3−O)pH] (Ia)
ここで、R1は、鎖状又は分岐状で飽和又は不飽和のC7−C23脂肪族炭化水素基(任意に、少なくとも1個の水酸基を含む)である。RaおよびRbはいずれも水素であるか、又は、RaおよびRbの一方が水素であり、RaおよびRbの他方がメチルである。
n+mは0.5〜5であり、ここで、n及びmは同一でも異なっていてもよく、n及びmの一方は0でもよい;p+qは0〜5であり、ここで、p及びqは同一でも異なっていてもよく、qのみ又はp及びqの双方が0でもよい。好ましい形態では、p+qは0〜3であり、より好ましくはpは0〜3で、qは0であり、最も好ましくはpは1〜3で、qは0である。

R1−C(=O)−O−CHRaCHRb−N−[CHRaCHRbO−(CHR2CHR3−O)q−H][(CHR2CHR3−O)pH] (Ia)
ここで、R1は、鎖状又は分岐状で飽和又は不飽和のC7−C23炭化水素基(任意に、少なくとも1個の水酸基を含む)である。RaおよびRbはいずれも水素であるか、又は、RaおよびRbの一方が水素であり、RaおよびRbの他方がメチルである。

式中、Rcは水素又はC1−3アルキルであり、Rdは2〜3個の炭素原子を有するアルキレン基である。RcがC1−3アルキルであると、副生物のRcOHが反応混合物中に残留することがある。任意に、副生物のRcOHは反応混合物から除去してよい。次いでアミド(II)及びエステル(IIa)はプロピレンオキシド及び/又はブチレンオキシドでアルコキシ化され、アルコキシ化アミド(I)及びアルコキシ化エステル(Ia)を与える。
次いで、好ましくは副生物のグリセリンの存在下で、又は副生物のグリセリンから化合物(II)を分離した後に、プロポキシ化/ブトキシ化を行なう。この形態でも、上で開示した形態と同様に、エステル(IIa)及びアルコキシ化エステル(Ia)も形成される。
(i)副生物のヒドロキシ化合物、例えばグリセリン又は他のアルコール;
(ii)副生物のトリグリセリドモノエステル、例えばグリセリルモノココエート;
(iii)副生物のトリグリセリドジエステル、例えばグリセリルジココエート;及び
(iv)過剰モル量のジアルカノールアミンを使用した場合、ジアルカノールアミン。
反応混合物はジアルカノールアミンの1以上の水酸基が酸と反応したものであるエステル(IIa)を含み、また、エステル及びアミド基双方が形成されたエステル−アミドも含み得る。好ましくは、このような副生物は、式(I)のプロポキシ化及び/又はブトキシ化アミド及び式(Ia)のエステルを含む最終反応混合物中に残留したままでよい。

Claims (3)
- R1-C(=O)-N-[CH2-CH2-O-CHR2-CHR3-OH][CH2CH2OH]の式で示されるアルコキシル化アミドと、R1-C(=O)-O-CHRaCHRb-N-[CHRaCHRbO-(CHR2-CHR3-O)q-H][(CHR2CHR3-O)pH]の式で示されるアルコキシル化エステルとを含む燃料添加剤であって、
式中、
R1-C(=O)は、ヤシ油から誘導されたものであり、
RaおよびRbは、いずれも水素であるか、または、RaおよびRbの一方が水素であり、RaおよびRbの他方がメチルであり、
p+qは1〜3であって、ここで、pが1〜3で、かつ、qが0であり、および、
当該アルコキシル化エステルは、当該アルコキシル化アミドと当該アルコキシル化エステルとの合計100重量部に対して30重量部までの量で当該燃料添加剤に存在する、
ことを特徴とする燃料添加剤。 - (a)内燃機関用炭化水素燃料と、(b)重量基準で50〜2000ppmの請求項1に記載の燃料添加剤とを含む燃料組成物を当該内燃機関に投入する工程を含む、ことを特徴とする内燃機関の操作において摩擦を低減する方法。
- (i)内燃機関用潤滑油と、(ii)重量基準で50〜2000ppmの請求項1に記載の燃料添加剤とを含む潤滑油組成物を用いる工程を含む、ことを特徴とする内燃機関の操作において摩擦とエンジン摩耗を低減する方法。
