Claims (1)
- 電解質膜の両側にそれぞれ電極触媒層及びガス拡散層を有する電極が設けられた電解質膜・電極構造体が、一対のセパレータ間に挟持され、前記電解質膜・電極構造体と各セパレータとの間には、それぞれ電極反応面の面方向に沿って反応ガスを供給する反応ガス流路が形成されるとともに、積層方向に貫通して前記反応ガス流路に連通する反応ガス連通孔が形成される燃料電池であって、
前記電解質膜・電極構造体の外周部分には、前記ガス拡散層の表面外側であって、前記反応ガス流路である酸化剤ガス流路の両端部分に対応する部位、及び前記酸化剤ガス流路の両端部分に隣接するバッファ部を含んだ部位に対向し、且つ該ガス拡散層の外周端部を周回する表面全周に、酸化触媒が塗布されるとともに、
前記酸化触媒は、前記電極触媒層と平面上重なる領域を有していないことを特徴とする燃料電池。
