なお、傾斜面32を側面から見て直線、円弧またはサイクロイド曲線以外の曲線で形成した場合で、例えば傾斜面32に凹凸があって仮想延長面F1を規定しづらい場合には、傾斜面32を3次スプライン曲線などのスプライン曲線で近似し、その延長線(面)を仮想延長面F1とするとよい。
傾斜面32および接続面33を形成するには、四角い断面にできあがった薄膜磁気ヘッドの角部を機械的研磨で加工する方法のみならず、磁気ギャップとなる非磁性膜およびその周囲の磁性薄膜を形成する前の下地の状態(コアのみの状態)で、先に機械加工によりコアの角部を研磨加工する方法で行ってもよい。そして、コアの角部に傾斜面32および接続面33に対応するR形状を付けた後、薄膜を形成し、任意的に傾斜面32および接続面33の仕上げ加工をするとよい。
また、図示はしないが、サーボライタ1は、図1に示した構成以外に、他の張力調整装置や、サーボ信号の検査装置などを適宜備えることができる。
磁気テープの搬送のシミュレーションは、TapeLab2というソフトウェアにより行った。このときの、サーボライトヘッドの形状とその他の計算条件は以下に示すものとした。

Claims (6)
- 磁気テープにサーボパターンを書き込むためのサーボライトヘッドであって、
磁気テープと摺接し、前記サーボパターンを象った磁気ギャップが設けられた平坦な磁気書込面と、
前記磁気書込面の磁気テープ搬送方向における前後に配置され、前記磁気書込面より後退し、かつ、前記磁気書込面に対して傾斜し、磁気テープと摺接する傾斜面と、
前記傾斜面と前記磁気書込面とを滑らかに繋ぐように設けられた、搬送される磁気テープに向けて凸曲面となる、磁気テープと摺接する接続面とを備え、
前記接続面は、前記傾斜面の曲率半径よりも小さな曲率半径で形成されていることを特徴とするサーボライトヘッド。 - 前記接続面の磁気テープの巻き掛け角θは、1.16°≦θ<90°であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のサーボライトヘッド。
- 前記傾斜面には、磁気テープ搬送方向に交差した少なくとも1以上の溝が形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1または請求項2に記載のサーボライトヘッド。
- 前記傾斜面は、円筒面であることを特徴とする請求項1から請求項3のいずれか1項に記載のサーボライトヘッド。
- 請求項1から請求項4のいずれか1項に記載のサーボライトヘッドと、
磁気テープの巻出しリールから磁気テープを供給し、当該磁気テープを前記サーボライトヘッドに摺接させ、巻取リールで巻き取る磁気テープ搬送装置と、
前記磁気テープに対しサーボ信号を書き込むため、前記サーボライトヘッドに信号を出力する書込信号発生回路とを備えることを特徴とするサーボライタ。 - 請求項1から請求項4のいずれか1項に記載のサーボライトヘッドに磁気テープを摺接させるように磁気テープを搬送し、前記サーボライトヘッドにサーボ信号を書き込むための信号を出力することにより、サーボ信号が書き込まれた磁気テープを得ることを特徴とするサーボ信号を書き込んだ磁気テープの製造方法。
