Claims (9)
- 外管(4)、モノリス基体(10)及びマット材料(12)を備え、前記マット材料が前記モノリス基体を囲む関係に配置された触媒コンバータ(2)を製造する方法であって、
1セットの圧縮特性を設定するために、前記モノリス基体及び前記マット材料の組合体を計測する工程と、
前記管内で前記モノリス基体及び前記マット材料の前記組合体を圧縮するために、前記管を圧縮する工程と、
を備える方法において、さらに
所定の最大ゲージ力又はゲージ圧力に対して、前記モノリス基体及び前記マット材料の前記組合体を計測することにより、前記モノリス基体及び前記マット材料の前記組合体の変位を測定する工程と、
前記モノリス基体及び前記マット材料の前記組合体における前記ゲージ力又はゲージ圧力を解放する工程と、
上記と同じ変位に対して、前記モノリス基体及び前記マット材料の前記組合体を再計測する工程と、
前記再計測時の前記圧力又は力の状態の変化を測定する工程と、
最初の変位及び前記の変化した状態に基づき、前記モノリス基体及び前記マット材料の前記組合体の新たな総変位量を計算する工程と、
その後、前記モノリス基体及び前記マット材料の前記組合体を前記管内に挿入し、前記管内において、前記モノリス基体に接する前記マット材料を前記新たな総変位量まで圧縮する工程と、
を備えることを特徴とする方法。 - 直径を有する管(4)と、モノリス基体(10)及びマット材料(12)を含む組合体とを備える触媒コンバータ(2)を製造する方法であって、
少なくとも1つのモノリス基体を取り囲む少なくとも1つの代表的マット材料を含む複数の代表的組合体を圧縮する工程と、
前記複数の代表的組合体のそれぞれについて圧力及び変位に関する1セットのデータを取得する工程と、
前記組合体を特徴付ける第1のセットのデータを取得するために、前記組合体を計測する工程と、
を備える方法において、さらに
前記組合体を特徴付ける第2のセットのデータを取得するために、前記組合体を再計測する工程と、
前記組合体を前記管に挿入する工程と、
前記代表的組合体を特徴付ける前記1セットのデータに基づき、変位/圧力曲線からなる前記マット材料の圧縮特性を表わす曲線を設定する工程と、
前記曲線並びに前記組合体を特徴付ける前記第1及び第2のセットのデータに基づき、前記管の直径のサイズ決定を行う工程と、
を備えることを特徴とする方法。 - 前記所定の最大ゲージ圧力の値が、70psi(約482633パスカル)に等しい所望の圧力の約30%〜99%の範囲内であることを特徴とする請求項1記載の触媒コンバータ製造方法。
- 前記所定の最大ゲージ圧力の値が、70psi(約482633パスカル)に等しい所望の圧力の約30%〜80%の範囲内であることを特徴とする請求項1記載の触媒コンバータ製造方法。
- 前記組合体に及ぼされる圧力の変化を測定する前記工程が、略安定した圧力値が達成されるまで、前記組合体に及ぼされる前記圧力を監視する工程を更に備えることを特徴とする請求項1記載の触媒コンバータ製造方法。
- 略安定した圧力値が達成されるまで、前記組合体に及ぼされる前記圧力を監視する前記工程が、有限サイズのマトリクスに、該マトリクスが一杯になるまで前記モノリス基体及びマット材料の組合体についての変位値を投入し、最も新しい値が最も古い値と略等しくなるまで、最も新しい値で最も古い値を置き換える工程を更に備えることを特徴とする請求項5記載の触媒コンバータ製造方法。
- 前記組合体に及ぼされる圧力の変化を測定する前記工程が、前記再計測する工程の開始のほぼ15秒後に行われることを特徴とする請求項5または6記載の触媒コンバータ製造方法。
- 第2のセットの力データを取得するために、前記代表的組合体の少なくとも一部を圧縮する工程
を更に備えることを特徴とする請求項2記載の触媒コンバータ製造方法。 - 前記曲線が傾斜を有し、前記組合体を特徴付ける前記第1のセットのデータが第1の圧力値を含み、前記組合体を特徴付ける前記第2のセットのデータが第2の圧力値を含み、前記第1の圧力値と前記第2の圧力値との差が圧力差を表わし、該圧力差を前記傾斜で割った値が、前記管のサイズを決定する際に用いられるオフセットを表わすことを特徴とする請求項2または8記載の触媒コンバータ製造方法。
