Abstract
【解決手段】ステント11は、波線状パターンを有し且つ軸線方向に並んで配置される複数の環状体13と、隣り合う環状体13の間に配置され軸線周りに螺旋状に延びる複数のコイル状要素15とを備え、隣り合う環状体13の波線状パターンの対向する側の頂部の全てが相互にコイル状要素15によって接続されている。環状体13の波線状パターンの各頂部に、軸線方向に延び且つコイル状要素15の幅よりも大きい幅を有する延長部分とその先端に形成された略半円形部分とを含む瘤状部が形成されており、コイル状要素15が瘤状部に接続されている。

Description
このように、本発明のステントによれば、形状追従性や縮径性が高く、金属疲労によるステントの破損も生じにくくなる。
最初に、図1から図3を参照して、本発明の一実施形態による高柔軟性ステント11の全体構成を説明する。

したがって、ステント11の頂部17bの金属疲労の発生リスクを低減させるためには、ステント11の縮径及び拡張の際に発生する頂部17bのひずみを小さくすればよい。縮径の際の変形量uが同じだけ与えられるとすれば、l0に相当する長さを大きくすることにより、頂部17bに発生するひずみを小さくすることができる。また、波形要素17の変形は、波形要素17の根本の谷側部分(内側周縁部)を中心に行われ、実質的に変形に寄与するのは、波形要素17の頂部17bの山側部分(図8〜図10の上部において両側矢印で示されている範囲)、特にその外側周縁部分である。そこで、ステント11では、図8から図10に示されているように、延長部分19aと略半円形部分19bとを含み且つコイル状要素15の幅よりも大きい幅を有する瘤状部19を頂部17bに形成することにより、頂部17bを長手軸線方向に延長するようにしている。具体的には、一般的な波形要素17の脚部17aとその頂部17bを形成する略半円形部分19bとの間に長手軸線方向に延びる延長部分19aを設けて、変形基点となる波形要素17の根本の谷側部分(内側周縁部)から外側へ向かって頂部17bをオフセットさせることにより、頂部17bの外側周縁部分を長くしている。延長部分19aは、縮径時に周方向に隣り合う瘤状部19同士が接触して縮径を妨げる要因となることを防ぐために、図8から図10に示されているように、長手軸線方向に延びる直線部分によって形成することが望ましい。

ここで、Eはヤング率、Ixは定数である。したがって、曲率半径Rが大きければ同じ大きさの曲げモーメントに対してより大きな角ひずみが得られ、コイル状要素15が柔軟に変形できるようになる。
患者の血管内にカテーテルが挿入され、カテーテルを病変部位まで到達させる。次に、ステント11は、縮径(クリンプ)されてカテーテル内に配置される。ステント11は、環状体13の波線状パターン、環状体13の頂部17bに形成されたスリット21、コイル状要素15の湾曲部15a、接続端における湾曲部15aの接線方向が長手軸線方向に一致する構成の複合的及び相乗的効果により、縮径性が高められており、従来のステントと比較してより細いカテーテル内にステント11を挿入することを容易にし、より細い血管へのステント11の適用を可能にする。

Claims (4)
- 波線状パターンを有し且つ軸線方向に並んで配置される複数の環状体と、隣り合う環状体の間に配置され軸線周りに螺旋状に延びる両端部に湾曲部を有する複数のコイル状要素とを備え、隣り合う前記環状体の前記波線状パターンの対向する側の頂部の全てが相互に前記コイル状要素によって前記湾曲部を介して接続されている高柔軟性ステントであって、
前記湾曲部は、前記コイル状要素と前記環状体とが接続する接続端における前記湾曲部の接線方向が前記軸線方向に一致するように形成されており、
前記環状体の前記波線状パターンの各頂部に、前記軸線方向に直線状に延び且つ前記コイル状要素の幅よりも大きい幅を有する延長部分と該延長部分の先端に形成された略半円形部分とを含む瘤状部が形成されており、
前記コイル状要素が前記環状体の前記波線状パターンの軸線方向に一方側に位置する前記頂部との接続端と、前記環状体の前記波線状パターンの軸線方向他方側に位置する前記頂部との接続端とが、前記頂部の中心から周方向正反対側にオフセットされて前記瘤状部に接続されており、
前記瘤状部の前記延長部分の一部に、前記環状体の前記波線状パターンの頂部の内側周縁部から前記軸線方向に延びるスリットが形成されていることを特徴とする高柔軟性ステント。 - 前記高柔軟性ステントが超弾性合金から形成されている、請求項1に記載の高柔軟性ステント。
- 前記超弾性合金がニッケルチタン合金である、請求項2に記載の高柔軟性ステント。
- 前記高柔軟性ステントは、脳血管内に留置するためのステントである、請求項1から請求項3の何れか一項に記載のステント。
