化学組成を決定するためのNMR
材料サンプルは、重水素化クロロホルム及びトリフルオロ酢酸の1:1混合物中に溶解させた。デュアルチャンネル・バリアンチリ(Varian Chili)プローブを装備した500MHz装置にて、1D NMRスペクトルを収集した。一体化されたモノマー組成物が、既知の特定のケミカルシフト及びピーク面積に基づいて抽出される。フェージング及びベースライン補正後、インテグレーションを実施した。
種々の試料の屈折率を、Metricon Prism coupler(Metricon Corporation,Pennington,N.J.)を用いて、MD、TD及びTM方向において測定した。MD及びTDは面内方向であり、TMはフィルム表面に対して垂直である。MD、TD及びTMの屈折率はそれぞれ、nx、ny、及びnzとして標識される。
一軸延伸フィルムの複屈折性を測定するために、面内複屈折が使用される。
二軸配向フィルムの複屈折性を測定するために、面外複屈折が使用される。
試験する多層光学フィルムを25.4mm幅のストリップ試験片に切断した。同一幅の両面接着テープ(3M Co.からのスコッチ(Scotch)(登録商標)テープ#396)を使用して、フィルムストリップ試験片をガラス基材(約50mm×150mm)に付着させた。接着テープを多層光学フィルムストリップ試験片全体の頂上に直接供し、更にガラス基材の中央部分に付着させた。また、テープストリップの長さは、手で掴むことができるよう、基材より更に長く付着したテープストリップの端でぶらさげ、未接着のままにした。フィルムの剥離(層間剥離)では、最初にフィルムストリップ試験片を過度に剥離することを避けるために、フィルムストリップ試験片の先端から1/4インチ(0.635cm)の場所を親指でしっかりと押さえ、テープストリップのこの遊離端を鋭く素早く引っ張った。次いで、剥離を始めたプラークをスリップ/ピール試験機(Slip/Peel Tester)(Instrumentors,Inc.)(オハイオ州ストロングスビル(Strongsville))に取り付けた。テープストリップに付着しているフィルムストリップ試験片部分を90°の剥離角、2.54cm/秒、25℃及び50%の相対湿度にて基材から剥離した。測定された剥離強度における誤差は、典型的には、20%以下であると推定した。

ポリエステル材料の合成:
PET、90/10 coPEN及びPENは、以下の手順に従って合成することができる。
3層収容共押出フィルムは、3層ABA(薄層/コア/薄層)フィードブロックを使用して、パイロット押出成形ラインで作製された。A層ポリマーは、ExxonからEscorene PP1024の商標名(grade name)にて市販されているポリプロピレンであり、一軸スクリュー押出機にてこれをフィードブロックの薄層チャネルへと供給した。B層ポリマーは、各サンプルの複屈折コポリエステルであり、二軸押出機によりフィードブロックのコアチャネルへと供給した。薄層/コア/薄層の供給比は1:1:1(容量)であった。総押出速度は、毎時30ポンド(13.6kg/時間)であった。押出品は、フィルムダイを使用して冷却ロール上で鋳造し、鋳造ウェブを作製した。次に、キャストウェブの試料をKARO IVバッチ延伸機(Bruckner Maschinengebau、ドイツ、ジーグスドルフ(Siegsdorff))にて、145℃の温度、延伸比1×4.5、延伸速度100%/秒及び予備加熱時間60秒にて拘束一軸延伸させた。コポリエステルの複屈折を評価するために、延伸後、ポリプロピレン薄層をはがして、コア複屈折層を露出させる。コア層の屈折率を、メトリコンプリズムカプラー(Metricon Prism coupler)(Metricon Corporation、ニュージャージー州ペニントン(Pennington))を用いて、MD、TD、及びTM方向で測定する。試験方法セクションに記載された式に基づいて、面内及び面外複屈折を計算した。

Claims (5)
- (a)少なくとも0.15の面内複屈折を632.8nmにて有する、PEN又はcoPENを含む複屈折熱可塑性ポリマーを含む、少なくとも1つの第1光学層と、
(b)0.040未満の面内複屈折を632.8nmにて有する少なくとも1つの第2光学層と、を含み、
前記第2光学層が、20〜80モル%の、前記第1光学層の少なくとも1つの前記複屈折熱可塑性ポリマー、及び少なくとも1つの第2熱可塑性ポリマーからなる、エステル交換反応により共重合されてなるポリマーブレンドを含む、多層光学フィルム。 - 前記第2光学層の前記ポリマーブレンドが、米国特許第6,673,275号に記載の理論的アプローチを使用して、次式:
ランダム性(%)=Pnt/(2*Wn*Wt)=Pnt(観測)/Pnt(ランダム)
(式中、Pntは、核磁気共鳴分光法(nmr)によって測定されたNET序列の比率であり、Wnは、nmrによって帯電または測定されたNEモル分率であり、Wtは、nmrによって帯電または測定されたTEモル分率である)により近似させるとき、25%未満のランダム性(%)を有する、請求項1に記載の多層光学フィルム。 - 前記ポリマーブレンドが、A−Bマルチブロックコポリマー構造体を含み、前記Aブロックが前記複屈折熱可塑性ポリマーを含み、前記Bブロックが前記第2熱可塑性ポリマーを含み、そして
前記A−Bマルチブロックコポリマー構造体が、少なくとも6であって25以下の反復単位からなる平均ブロック長を有する、請求項1に記載の多層光学フィルム。 - 前記第1光学層の前記複屈折熱可塑性ポリマーが、PEN又はcoPENからなり、前記PEN又はcoPENは、100モル%のカルボキシレートサブユニットに対して、少なくとも95モル%のナフタレートサブユニットを含む、請求項1に記載の多層光学フィルム。
- 光学フィルムであって、
請求項1に記載の多層光学フィルムを含むベース層と、
前記ベース層上に配置されたマイクロ構造化表面層と、を含む、光学フィルム。
